Last time we checked up on Palm Beach County students, things weren't looking too hot. The county's school system saw a dip in its overall grades, according to the Florida Department of Education's annual school grades.

Two schools got D's and two schools received F grades in Palm Beach.

But now that school is officially over and all the results are in, turns out Palm Beach schools did better than most other counties in the state when it comes to end-of-course exams.

According to the state Department of Education, Palm Beach outperformed most major Florida school districts -- including Broward and Miami-Dade counties -- in exams in subjects such as geometry, biology, and algebra I.

Specifically, Wellington Landings and Loggers Run middle schools did the best on algebra with an impressive 99 percent passing at each school.

Seventy-one percent of Palm Beach students hit it out of the park in their algebra I exams, with 67 percent of students passing the history end-of-course exams. Only Hillsborough County was better in that particular subject, with 74 percent passing.

The better news there is that Palm Beach students saw improvement from last year, going from 49 percent passing history in 2013 to 67 percent in 2014.

Meanwhile, the magnet students at Suncoast High and Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts kicked butt in geometry, biology, and history exams with 94 percent of students passing.

With the end of FCAT this year, the debate will continue to rage on what these standardized tests mean.

And parents were worried about how other parents dressed.

But for now, as the summer gets underway and the kids get their beach and pool and mall-time on, it's a good time to recognize their hard work and accomplishments.

Until it's time to stress out about Common Core. Weeeeee!!!
