Dolphins Dope/Center Mike Pouncey Undergoes Hip Surgery, Now Out Three Months
It came as a jarring gut punch given that the injury now ensures five new starters will make up next year's offensive line, and despite Schefter's initial report, it really could end up worse.
Since training camp hasn't opened, Pouncey will be eligible to open camp on the active/PUP list, something that would cost him the first six games. It's not out of the question -- the Dolphins bye comes in week four, so he'd end up missing the first five games anyway.
All of which led to -- of course -- a mix of anger and defeated sadness from Fins fans.
I'm actually pretty happy about how this Dolphins season is turning out so far. Top-5 pick still in play. HUZZAH!— Adam Smoot (@adamsmoot) June 23, 2014
My understanding is Mike Pouncey's labrum injury was nagging him thru spring. Decided to get it taken care of, for long-term stability.— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) June 23, 2014
Dolphins should bubble wrap Ryan Tannehill until the opener.— Will Manso (@WillManso) June 23, 2014
I mean...they even let Pouncey participate in their dumb padless "spring game" last Thursday. My god, how inept of a medical staff are they?— Matty I (@TheMattyI) June 23, 2014
Worse realization: possibly your best offensive player is out for 3 months? Or possibly your best offensive player is Mike Pouncey?— Adam Smoot (@adamsmoot) June 23, 2014
