Yesterday the Memorial Day festivities got a little too hot and heavy in Fort Lauderdale. According to news reports flowing from multiple outlets right now, a large-scale police presence was needed to clamp down on unruly revelers. Both Fort Lauderdale PD and the Broward Sheriff's Office were reportedly dispatched in force. Right now, the details are pretty sketchy about what actually transpired, but a dip into social media shows something definitely went down.

According to CBSMiami, right now police have reported that "dozens" of individuals were arrested in two separate incidents (check back; we'll try to confirm a more specific number today). One incident took place near NW 31st Avenue and West Broward Boulevard, the other near the beach on A1A.

The way police describe the latter incident, it was some Clockwork Orange-style mayhem-for-mayhem's-sake bad behavior.

"We had several reports of individuals who were reaching into vehicles, striking drivers. We have reports of individuals who were jumping on top of taxicabs," Fort Lauderdale PD spokesperson DeAnna Greenlaw told CBSMiami. "This was something that was planned through these individuals, and they were coming to Fort Lauderdale Beach Park for this purpose, to cause a problem."

Police reportedly confronted a group of people who had come to the park to fight. Law enforcement also shut down three bridges and marched the streets in riot gear -- both BSO and Fort Lauderdale PD. Again, right now police say about "dozens" of people were carted off in cuffs.

But on Twitter, beachgoers had been talking about a heavy police presence all day.

And the front-line dispatch continued as the clashes heated up. The commentary show a running tick-tock of what went down. The question to keep in mind is whether these are coming from folks who witnesses the mayhem firsthand or just heard about it. Regardless, there were definitely bad vibes floating in the ether yesterday in Fort Lauderdale.

.............how to maintain the judicial industrial complex:

We spend in the United States $88,000 on average per year to lock a child up, compared to $10,652 to educate a child. We have over 66,000 children locked up, 87% of them boys, and our police arrest 2 million juveniles each year.

A recent longitudinal study of 35,000 young offenders found that those who are locked up are over twice as likely to be locked up as adults compared to those who committed similar offenses and came from similar backgrounds but were given an alternative penalty or were just not arrested. In some states over 80% of those locked up as kids will be convicted of later crimes. Studies have found that, more than family difficulties or gang membership or any other factor, the best predictor of criminality is whether someone has been imprisoned in what amount to factories for crime.

 more proof that our state and government is getting way out of had!! People, they work for us not the other way around!! They are taking our freedoms. It is time to stand up and tell them that they work for us and we will not stand for their corruption. If cops out there capturing the criminals that are dangerous and have committed rape, murder , child abuse, and the gangs ect. then criminal activity would never have gotten out of hand. They spend more time giving out tickets and picking on people that are good citizens  for things like cats running at large (yes they give tickets for that and will take you to jail if you don't pay them, lol. what a waste of the money we pay out to be protected. Our court systems are also corrupt, the public defenders now work with prosecutors to make sure you have to pay and or do time even if you are not guilty. So much for innocent before proven guilty!!They could be arresting the corrupt police and people in government that are doing criminal acts against WE THE PEOPLE AND THE CONSTITUTION THAT WAS PUT IN PLACE TO PROTECT US!! WAKE UP PEOPLE BEFORE THIS BECOMES A COMMUNIST COUNTRY, IT IS NOT FAR OF FROM THIS!! SPEAK UP AND LET THEM NO THAT we the people will not stand for the corruption. If all these cops had been doing the job they were hired for instead of this petty assss crap, we would not have so many real criminal activity on the street!!

Wondering if there is something that spread on the social networks that got all these fools to head to the beach at the same time....?

Love how these twitters are complaining about the police hours AFTER those asshats went on the rampage.  So the cops are supposed to let the idiots run rampant?  People, stop being stupid!

Really sad Memorial Day is ruined by urban lowlife crowds across the country. Sadly not just a South Florida problem.

i'm MORE afraid of a BSO LT that has someone falsely arrested as if a gestapo chief simply on a vendetta score to settle by a "friend" to harass that other person THAN I AM of a few young BLACK kids

the BLACK kids will eventually learn of something better more civilized - the BSO LT will get power hungry and greed and next thing is MORE terrorizing and harassment of innocents for profit !

BLACKs didn't create gas chambers - civilian turned gestapo savages did

@smdrpepper

scores of police are suspected of protecting a convicted fraudster, scott rothstein, and in fact a dozen have pled or will plead GUILTY and a dozen or so are scheduled for sentencing (one LT took $185,ooo and others suspected of taking $400,ooo)

GROUND ZERO is DIRTY BLONDEs (see post below) and other locations where off-duty and off-the-books "work" is available to LEOs

since 2009, and possibly long before, LEOs have presided over the beach turning into a BOWERY

peace reigning on the beach and their, the cops, gravy train stops

............run rampant ?

............what were the charges ? JAYWALKing ? a PUBLIC NUISANCE ? among 42 or so KIDS ? ! ? ....oh boy you got AL QUEDA terrorists here for sure !

............why not call in the national guard ? these cops were simply protecting their off-duty off-the-books gigs at DIRTY BLONDEs home of the felony battery BOUNCERs

@frankd4 That is possibly the stupidest reply yet.  First off, there was at LEAST one stabbing, vandalism, and attacks on people in cars, not to mention OF cars.  This has nothing to do with a bar, but several hundred brats all upset they couldnt do whatever they wanted.  They all deserve time behind bars to learn what it means to break the law.

@smdrpepper @frankd4

well then i suppose we can expect a raft of felony convictions - no ?

the bar DIRTY BLONDEs hosted INCOGNITO of the MIAMI DOLPHINs (go see the video of his alcohol-fueled biggoted rant that would make donald sterling BLUSH RED !)

break the law ? how about LEOs protecting DIRTY BLONDE bouncers, like the did rothstein, the same BOUNCERs who were later charged with felony battery on patrons (the SAME patrons FLPD arrested until a VIDEO came out public showing the savage uncivlized animal beating the BOUNCERs gave those two patrons by attacking one from behind and sucker-punching from behind a GIRL the other patron AND THEN stamping and kicking the patrons HEAD while on the GROUND !)

the LEOs protect DIRTY BLONDEs because cops "work" off-duty and can earn as much as $600 per week extra off-the-books INCOME
