Fort Lauderdale Named Among the Best Cities for Parking Your Car

car-park.jpg
Ever find yourself complaining about how expensive parking is in Fort Lauderdale? Of course you do. Parking is enough of a pain in the ass to begin with; then you have to put a dent in your bank account to do it.

But take heart!

Because it's not as bad as you think it is.

Turns out, people living in other parts of the U.S. have it much worse than we do when it comes to forking over cash for parking.

In fact, Fort Lauderdale is one of the best cities for parking.

The folks at NerdWallet.com -- the same people who found that Fort Lauderdale ranks high as a city that invests the most resources in public safety -- did a study of cities around the country that are terrible for parking. And their findings revealed that Fort Lauderdale ain't one of them.

Among the variables used in the study were the price of parking and vehicle theft.

NerdWallet included the price of daily and monthly parking using data was from Collier International's 2012 Parking Study.

The site also factored in the likelihood a car would be stolen using theft rates from the FBI's 2010 data on motor vehicle thefts.

For example, they found that Chicago is the worst city for parking, with high parking rates that topped out at $35 a day and $289 a month for parking.

Other bad cities for parking included New York City, Boston, Honolulu, San Francisco, and Oakland.

On the flip side of that, however, are the better cities to park in. And Fort Lauderdale is right up there.

According to NerdWallet, Fort Lauderdale residents pay an average of only $15 a day for parking and $78 in unreserved monthly parking rates.

Incidentally, just beneath Fort Lauderdale comes West Palm Beach with $16 a day and $56 in unreserved monthly parking rates.

So the next time you find yourself in downtown or out at the beach and feel like belly-aching about the parking, remember this one key factor: At least you're not in Chicago.

..................anyway,  it's a dumb report because a real pedestrian friendly CITY has proper PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION .......... or local residential and business COMMUNITY SPIRIT ...............whereby people live and work and play and attend school all in one accessible geographic area .............OR bus train cab services and bicycle walking make it too convienient to need a personal vehicle to get around !

...............lets ask the sixty or so people that got TICKETED on EASTER SUNDAY while attending church services in ft lauderdale whereas the first tickets were clocked in at 9:03 AM which means the parking Violations Bureau had an advanced team ready and waiting to go at 9AM - or lets ask predatory towing operators based in ft-lauderdale how they towed two-hundred or so cars during a black friday holiday shopping telling drivers who did not show they would be fired immediately - or lets ask the driver who got his stretch limo towed and then ransacked from a downtown lot - or lets ask the predatory towing operators how they conspire with restaurant waiters and staff to rat-out their OWN patrons whos cars get towed with the waiter getting a spotters cut - or lets ask the Parking Violations Bureau personnel how a ticket written at 11:08am  was issued on a vehicle that had PAID to park through 11:30am available on its parking spot - shall i go on ?

Fort Lauderdale is not really a city

These aren't parking rates for downtown or the beach, first and foremost, this is the parking rate for the Fort Lauderdale Airport garages. The article on NerWallet.com is problematic because they don't show where they got their results in the first place. This is convoluted and misleading and doesn't delve into the real issues with parking in Fort Lauderdale AT ALL.
