Don't panic. Those military aircraft and soldiers you see down the street are only a drill, says the Broward Sheriff's Office.

According to a BSO advisory, the U.S. Department of Defense will be conducting routine training throughout Broward County until Thursday.

Officials say the training areas were selected specifically to minimize the impact on the daily routine of residents and visitors. So you don't have to worry about maybe running into a tank on your way to Publix.

On Monday evening, military aircraft was reportedly heard in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

This type of training where military helicopters go around scaring the crap out of people has been conducted in different cities across the country and is designed to certify service members in urban environment operations for any future overseas deployments.

Local law enforcement agencies will be providing support.

BSO says the training is not open to the public due to safety and security concerns, so don't get any bright ideas.

Also, don't call 911 if you see an Army helicopter flying over your house.

Not unlike gunboat diplomacy, but on a domestic level. Parade the hardware around town and let the peasants know what can happen. Thinly veiled urban warfare practice. Who is the enemy?
