Amanda McClure, Suspect in Fatal DUI Crash, Arrested Again

Categories: Crime

Amanda McClure, the woman accused of driving drunk and killing Patriot Guard Rider John Regan on I-95 near Palm Beach Gardens in September, is back in jail.

McClure, 25, of Palm City, was arrested Saturday night on charges of violating her probation, according to Palm Beach County Jail records.

At the time of her arrest, she had been waiting for her trial on DUI manslaughter charges.

Prosecutors say she was drunk when she stuck and killed 58-year-old Regan, who was a volunteer for the Florida Patriot Guard.

At the time of the accident back in September, Regan was on his way to Stuart, where he planned to join other Patriot Guard riders in order to escort World War II veterans back to Palm Beach International Airport.

Just before 3 a.m. on the night of the accident, McClure stuck Regan's motorcycle from behind with her 2010 Lexus ES 350. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Regan was ejected from his motorcycle. He landed in the grass median that sits at the center of the highway, while McClure spun out of control and hit a guardrail. Regan was wearing a helmet but died from his injuries.

McClure was arrested for the accident in December.

Judge Caroline Shepherd ruled McClure needed to be monitored by a system that noted her location, as well as whether she had taken drugs or alcohol.

McClure, according to the assistant state attorney, had also had a DUI conviction in 2008 and failed to appear in court on 2012 for unrelated charges.

The details of McClure's latest probation violation were not immediately available.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of the departed, this is a terribly tragedy. I have known Amanda McClure for years, she is not an irresponsible or reckless type of person. She is really a kind hearted, sensitive and gentle girl. Never in a million years would she wish harm on anyone. Please do not hold any hatred in your hearts against her.

How many more people does she have to kill before she's stopped? Lock her up and throw away the key.
