Florida Man Hops Out of Car to Knock Down 70-Year-Old at Crosswalk

Friend to the elderly.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a huge d-bag.

John McNally, 43, is no friend to the elderly, and he probably hates dogs, little kids, baseball, the Olympics, and America too. The Boca Raton resident was out driving with his wife and 4-year-old daughter on Sunday when he flipped his wig in what is probably the worst road-rage incident we've seen in some time.

According to the Palm Beach Post, McNally was driving south on Real Plaza in Mizner Park on Sunday around 2:30 p.m. when it all happened. He pulled his Lexus SUV (obviously, it was a Lexus SUV. Only dudes trying too hard to front baller status but without the real money for a top-dollar car would do something like this) to a stop at the crosswalk.

Leonard Shubitz, 70, was trying to walk through the roadway. The driver failed to "respect" the crosswalk, according a witness. The older individual seemed not to have liked how precipitously McNasty pulled up. He yelled at the driver and put his hand on the ever-precious Lexus for balance.

Big mistake. You don't lay hands on John McNally's faux-luxury chariot. He hit the brakes, jumped out, and allegedly told the walker, "Don't touch my car!" The 43-year-old then allegedly pushed Shubitz down with two hands. And then, like all good men just trying to protect their property, family, and purchase of the American dream, he jumped back in the Lexus and sped off.

The victim was taken to the hospital with bruises. Some commie-sympathizer wussy-ass witness (no doubt) saw what happened and reported McNally's license plate to police. When he was arrested, the badass told the cops the old man was lucky McNally didn't "punch him for hitting my car." McNally told police he reacted because the old man had hit the side of the car where his daughter was sitting.

Captain Self Control also said he was sorry he'd lost his shit in front of his daughter, which is a pretty low bar for contrition. "Oh yeah, just brutalized an old man -- sorry my kid saw it."

A quick run through Palm Beach County court records shows only minor traffic violations for McNally. He's currently facing a felony charge of battery on a person 65 and older. His wife told police it was "out of character" for her husband to act like such a dick in public. Been under a lot of stress, she said.

Stress? Sure, we can all understand that, right?

Nope.

The serious side: This being Florida, everyone's lucky one of the participants wasn't strapped with a conceal carry. In that case, McNally's family might have watched as he blasted away an old man or got blasted away himself. Not so funny to think about.

So be nice out there. Don't be a jerk.

Send your story tips to the author, Kyle Swenson.

(part2) Call it how it is.... altercation in Mizner Park you should be fired for assuming you know this mans story, slander and the very unpopular opinion that a Lexus is a faux luxury chariot, really, you’re reporting a story in Boca, actually Lexus is an everyday hard working guys car... blow smoke up our @$#%$ with the Tesla's, Bentley’s and Maserati’s that fill up the Mizner Valet line.... Really.

I don’t know who this opinionated writer is but there are a lot of horribly nasty mean 70 yr olds in this town who have a little bit of money and think they can do or say anything. I used to own a restaurant in Boca Raton and there were more 70 yr olds completely out of line in front of my daughters myself and the many PBSO that used to dine in our restaurant regularly. Find out how many times the police are called to HOA meetings because 70 - 80 yr olds throw punches!! I don’t know what this man said or did but he is not elderly until he chooses to play that card, there are plenty of loudmouthed disrespectful blowhards that never bite their tongue or curb their own behavior. I’m thinking the author of this article is certainly on his way to being one of them. Anger breeds anger and I’m pretty sure McNally DOES NOT HATE CHILDREN AND DOGS... In fact I would say he loves and respects his wife and daughter more than the old man hitting his car and spewing obscenities... when you put your child on a pedestal you allow no-one to scare them or hurt them... he may have been wrong to push the guy but not for standing up for himself. And the Lexus comment... no surprise you’re working for the New Times and not the New York Times, let me guess, you call restaurants and say you’ll review them and you want 5 courses for free... of course you do... I used to get those calls.

Not all carry licensees would consider pulling out a gun and killing someone for touching their car.... That sentence really should be redacted....

The story (real one with out as much editorial) made it sound like the old guy j-walked in mizner park.

not that pushing someone down is acceptable, but if you j-walk, then you are breaking the law. (too).

Nice to slip in an editorial here on a story that had nothing to do with Stand Your Ground OR guns.

"The serious side: This being Florida, everyone's lucky one of the participants wasn't strapped with a conceal carry. In that case, McNally's family might have watched as he blasted away an old man or got blasted away himself. Not so funny to think about. "

I was confronted by a road rage moron just like this guy in the Lexus and was pushed hard by him but was able to grab onto my car to stay up right (I didn't fight him because my small son was with me, instead I went to the cops).  The cops were so incompetent, they "made up" most of what I said so they didn't have to arrest the guy, even though I indicated I wanted to press charges.  They did nothing and this guy is still on the loose.  People have no idea how incompetent the police are until they need one for something.

That was several years ago.  Since then, I don't call the police for anything and solve problems on my own now.  They are grossly incompetent at best and criminal at worst.

@redd Every story of this incident specifies the event occurred in a crosswalk at a STOP sign. How would that be interpreted as Jay walking?

@winsomelosesome old man was knocked to the ground senselessly and that is what stuck out to you? Nice to know folks on here have so much sympathy.

@KennyPowersII @imarriedachef No I am not bitter in fact Im so nice and have been abused by so many people who think they can scare children & threaten me because they've had a miserable life. I on the other hand hold doors open, give up my seat, smile, always help and never get a thank you... as they believe they are entitled. And to this author, Kyle Swenson, sad you didnt do your homework... you know calling him broke and all, weird his property taxes are probably more than your salary for a year, right or wrong your article (using the words d-bag and dick) is a disgrace to any newspaper and that kind of reporting is more hate than sticking up for your family!

@ashash @winsomelosesome

That was my point.  What was the editorial doing in a piece about a bore who shoved an elderly man to the ground?  What did it have to do with guns or shooting?  Answer................NOTHING.  It was a major stretch

What made it stick out to me was the incongruity of it.

@ashash @winsomelosesome

when (*if) you read the SS story, the old guy appears to have just stepped off the curb to cross the street, young guy slams on brakes and old guy hits the side of the car where is daughter is sitting.

-it did sound like the old guy didn't use the cross walk.  On the other hand mizner park is a slow zone, 15 mph, IIRC...

the picture of the 70 year old was not some feeble weak old man either.

-facts and details hurt a great story.

check the ss story out, and you tell me.

@redd @ashash@winsomelosesomeDid the precious cargo get hurt? That is pathetic that some aggressive rager  would use that as an excuse for exiting his car to assault the guy. Why not admit that he just didn't like someone "touching" his auto for any reason.
