Florida Man Bites Neighbor's Ear Off Over a Cigarette
According to Boca police, the victim had a chunk of his ear bitten off after he turned down the man who had asked for a smoke.
A thin piece of cartilage kept the whole ear from being ripped from the man's head.
The victim, John Ott, told police he was helping a friend with something when Alberto Felipe, his neighbor on Jeffrey Street in Boca Raton, asked if he could bum a cigarette.
Ott turned Felipe down.
But Felipe is not a man who takes "No" for answer.
And by that, we mean he'll apparently try to eat anyone who says "No" to him.
"I was helping a friend out and someone decided they wanted to take a chunk out of my ear." Ott told CBS 12.
"This all started because I wouldn't give him a cigarette," added Ott.
Ott says Felipe walked up to him and gave him a bear hug. He then allegedly chomped down on Ott's ear.
Ott was taken to a nearby hospital, where his mangled ear was stitched up.
Before the biting incident, Ott claims that Felipe has been belligerent with him, often yelling at him from across the street.
Following the biting incident, Ott now says he plans on filing a restraining order against Felipe.
CBS 12 says that Felipe has had his share of run-ins with the law in the past, although none of the priors seem to be from him trying to eat or bite anyone.
Felipe has been arrested three other times in Palm Beach County on other assault and battery charges, CBS 12 reports.
And for trying to turn his neighbor's ear into an afternoon snack, Boca Police charged Felipe with battery. He posted $3,000 bond and is now free.
This entire story would make a great addition to those terrifying Tobacco Free Florida commercials.
