Dirty Blondes' Bouncers Fired For Role In Bar Fight

Following nearly two weeks of relentless criticism over a viral video that shows three Dirty Blondes' bouncers battering a patron, owner AJ Yaari has fired the security personnel involved.

In an effort to quell an inferno of outrage, he released a statement late yesterday, vowing to improve the bar's security. He says he'll soon install cameras on the exterior, a project to be completed next week.

"We do not and will not condone these types of actions within the confines of our businesses or anywhere for that matter," Yaari wrote. "As we take swift and calculated measures to move forward, we appreciate the patience of the public, the fairness of the media and support of our city and business leaders."

Talk about a public relations nightmare.

Two of three bouncers -- Arnald Thomas-Darrah, 30, and Jovan Dean, 35 -- face battery charges. Thomas-Darrah was arrested over the weekend, and confessed to his involvement, Fort Lauderdale police say.

Meanwhile, the incident marshaled an incredible social media response, with Facebook group Boycott Dirty Blondes at the helm. It ferreted out scoop after scoop, but came under criticism for disseminating unverified information. (It condemned Jovan Dean for having been charged with domestic battery -- without specifying that those Broward County charges were quickly dismissed.)

Now, Dirty Blondes says it will increase its security by bolstering its forces with more police officers. "Since the security of our patrons and staff is of utmost importance, we have hired additional police detail officers for the immediate future," he said in a statement. "An interview process to determine the retention of an outside security agency will commence next week when the owners return to Florida."

Yaari expressed dismay at the conduct of his bouncers, and said his bar "placed a priority on evaluating [bouncer] training."

Alex Coehlo, 29, and David Parker, 27, have retained lawyers and say they plan to sue the bar. Coehlo, who suffered deep cuts and contusions around his face, has become a sympathetic figure in public opinion.

"I've known Alex for over ten years," friend George Dammous said. "I've been through shit and sunshine with him, and he's in no way a troublemaker. He's a nice guy who keeps to himself and is always there for a friend."

so while HALF THE WORLD saw what happened the DETECTIVES of the FT LAUDERDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT were clueless after their initial arrival at the scene and conclusion of their investigation UNTIL A WEEK LATER ? ?

WE SURE DO HAVE A CRACK investigative squad here in FT LIQUORDALE who believed a liar apparent felon batterer and his sucker punching and chokeholding from behind henchmen that these patrons must have fallen on the curb on their way out of the bar

none of this matters UNLESS there is liability INSURANCE to go after - otherwise the BOUNCER dudes get some jail time and with no assets file bankruptcy against any civil suit award won against them individually AND with no insurance on the bar the bar operations fold up tent and files bankruptcy as well - the landlord just rents to another DIVE operator and the BOWERY on the BEACH goes on - then we will see if the FT LAUDERDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT is sued by allowing a week for the BOUNCERs to get sober and the bar operator to clean up the stage and thus wipe away all potentially damaging evidence that SHOULD HAVE BEEN COLLECTED upon an investigation within HOURs of the incident to which the city will offer a small SETTLEMENT to keep it quiet from TOURISTs

How about firing the manager or bartender who hired these goons with no background checks? What's to stop this situation from repeating?

So far, just lipstick on a pig.

"Now, Dirty Blondes says it will increase its security by bolstering its forces with more police officers." Oh boy. Cops aren't thugs?

BTW, what has happened to the bartender who initiated the fiasco with his siccing the bouncers on the patrons? And WTF is A J Yaari?

A great example of the damage a crisis can do to your business when you respond stupidly and slowly.

@frankd4 Knowing the thug bouncers would get fired , eventually, they didn't want to spoil their chance to get the off duty gig there.

i see FT LIQUORDALE PD get their tabs picked-up on the house at ROCCOs and elsewhere so i think that is the connection

hey ? great investigative work - no ? they gave those three stoogies a whole week to get clean - WHO would have thought at the police headquarters that someone had a video showing the TRUTH ?

well i guess they will have to  'R E W O R D" that investigation now - huh ?

now that the keystone cops have lost their main benefactor - scott rothstein - they have to resort to their old tricks in "protecting" the DIVE BARs from unruly tourists and unsuspecting visitors who used to simply pay their FINEs and court costs and GO HOME

DOESN'T anyone realize if an establishment NEEDs BOUNCERs it probably shouldn't be located encroaching on a highly pedestrian trafficed sidewalk with little kids and their families continually passing by - what's next ? and auto body shop on LAS OLAS ? a junk yard on ALHAMBRA ? the town dump on BAYSHORE ?

i'm sure the fancy RITZ-CARLTON promotes the beach as a sleezy DIVE where you will get jumped and stomped and sucker-punched as part of your $400 a day experience !
