Ever since our sister paper's report on Major League baseball players obtaining performance enhancing drugs from the Coral Gables-based clinic, Biogenesis, broke, players have been falling by the wayside via suspensions.

But now the biggest fish in the barrel has apparently fallen, as ESPN is reporting that New York Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez will be suspended through the end of the 2014 season.

According to CBS Sports, a total of 13 players tied to Biogenesis will be suspended for 50 games. All players involved have accepted the suspension and will not appeal.

A-Rod, however, reportedly plans to fight the decision.

The MLB brought the hammer down harder on Rodriguez -- a total of 211 games suspended -- because he is accused with interfering with the league's investigation of Biogenesis.

The other players reportedly to be suspended are:

-Astros: LHP Sergio Escalona (minors) -Mariners: C Jesus Montero (minors) -Mets: UTIL Jordany Valdespin and OF Cesar Puello (both minors) -Padres: SS Everth Cabrera and RHP Fautino De Los Santos (minors) -Phillies: LHP Antonio Bastardo -Rangers: OF Nelson Cruz -Tigers: SS Jhonny Peralta -Yankees: C Francisco Cervelli and OF Fernando Martinez (minors) -No Team: LHP Jordan Norberto (free agent)

A-Rod is expected to make his season debut for the Yankees tonight in Chicago against the White Sox.
