Broward Fire Rescue was able to save a dog that had traveled five miles trapped between the axle and steering mechanism of a PT Cruiser.

Fire Rescue workers were probably expecting a call or two having to do with people getting injured from fireworks on Thursday. Instead, they got an unusual call to come to the aid of this poor little guy.

As you can see in the video below, the Broward Fire Rescue guys got to work quickly, like an adorable NASCAR pit crew, and gently pulled the dog from the beneath the vehicle.

The rescue team arrived at the scene at around 1:30 Thursday afternoon at a home on SE Fifth Street in Dania Beach.

According to the report, the couple who owned the PT Cruiser had been traveling from Hallandale Beach to the address at Dania Beach when they noticed something felt wrong with the car and engine.

When they went to check, they discovered the dog trapped under their car.

It's not known how the dog got itself trapped under the car or if it belongs to anyone.

He was taken to a vet in Hollywood for a checkup.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles says the dog suffered no injuries, even though it had been driven about five miles from Hallandale Beach.

Jachles almost ruined the whole rescue with a bad joke, saying, "This dog must have nine lives."

He then probably wanted to add, "I'm sure that five-mile trip was pretty ruff!"

We kid. We kid.

Nice job, fellas!
