On August 10th, 2007, Broward Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Reyka was gunned down with a semi-automatic handgun as he sat in his cruiser at a Walgreens parking lot in Pompano.

Today, the Broward County Sheriff's Office has announced that they have a suspect.

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel announced Shawn Labeet as the man responsible for killing Sgt. Reyka.

Labeet himself was killed by police in an unrelated shootout a month after he shot and killed Reyka.

According to the sheriff's office, Reyka was on patrol, checking a suspicious vehicle on the night he was killed.

Detectives believe Labeet was near the Walgreens on the night of the murder, though he may have been living under his alias, "Kevin Wehner."

While Labeet was killed in a police shootout, detectives are still looking for more information on who he might have been with on the night he shot and killed the 18-year police veteran. Police would also like to speak with anyone who knew Labeet, and find out details about possible criminal activities prior to August of 2007.

BSO is asking anyone with information to call the Reyka tip-line at (954) 880-3950. They also say a reward of $278,225 still remains.

Reyka, 51, had lived in Wellington and left behind a wife and four children.
