Apparently JCPenny department stores don't pay enough to afford cars, because a woman who worked for them had to rob their jewelry to pay for her repossessed car.

According to Boynton Beach police, 25-year-old Chelsey Adele Edwards stole thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry from the JCPenney department store she worked at, then tried to pawn them off for cash.

(Also, her mug shot is the most fantastic thing you'll see all day.)

Apparently, Edwards was the store's jewelry manager in the Boynton Beach Mall.

She allegedly took a necklace, ring, and bracelets; put them inside a bag; and went to the store's loss prevention officer, according to the arrest report. Edwards told the officer she found the items in the store's safe.

The prevention officer told her to put the items back into the safe so he could investigate the matter later.

But apparently Edwards interpreted "put them back in the safe" as "go see if you can sell them for cash and then keep the cash," because she allegedly took the jewelry to a pawn shop.

Edwards apparently needed the money to get back her repossessed car.

The loss prevention officer was tipped off about what Edwards did, and the cops were called in.

When police checked the store safe, they found only the necklace in it. They then questioned Edwards, who allegedly confessed she stole the items.

Edwards was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Friday and released on Saturday on $9,000 bail.

The items she stole were apparently valued at about $1,034.

Turns out she only got $500 for the them.

She was probably told this right before the mug-shot photo was taken.
