In case you haven't noticed, the weather's been kinda nutty lately. It's hot, it's cold, it's hot, it's cold again. OMG Florida is going through menopause!

Well, it was a bit brisk this morning, and yes, you had your fun taunting your Northeastern friends with the fact that you find 50 degrees cold. But the weather is about to dip a bit further down, forcing Broward to declare a Cold Weather Emergency.

The National Weather Service is forecasting temps and -- more important -- wind chills to dip down to the low to mid-40s.

And although that may not be exactly the coming of the impending apocalyptic ice age, it does mean bad news for the homeless.

According to a news release from the county, homeless shelters will be open for those who need it.

The cold weather emergency will be from 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday and from 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday.

Those looking for a warm place to sleep through the cold snap are being asked to report to the shelters no later than 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday for transportation or access to special cold-night shelters.

The following shelters will be open at that time:

• Pompano Beach
Pompano Beach City Hall
100 W. Atlantic Blvd. (Southeast Corner)

• Fort Lauderdale
The Salvation Army
1445 W. Broward Blvd.

• Hollywood
Broward Outreach Center
2056 Scott St. (Shelter Location)

However, the news release also says that if it doesn't get as cold as the weather people say it will, some of the shelters will close:

However, if the weather forecast changes to predict warmer or colder conditions, cold weather emergency shelter nights may be canceled or extended. If there are any changes to this declaration, they will be issued no later than 1 p.m. on the date of the event.

So, if you know a homeless person without internet, please let him or her know!
