James Tracy, FAU Professor, Says Sandy Didn't Happen; Revels In Notoriety

Don't believe anything the media tells you. Ever.
Americans have long tolerated if not wallowed in conspiracy theories. Lee Harvey Oswald wasn't alone when he shot Kennedy. Aliens landed in Area 51. We never got to the moon, etc. etc.

But quite possibly the most despicable and callous of all conspiracy theories recently rose from South Florida. James Tracy, an associate professor at Florida Atlantic University, has questioned whether the Sandy Hook killings -- in which 20 babies were killed by a haunted and disturbed young man -- ever happened. It could all be a hoax, he says, yet another example of collusion between the U.S. authorities and the "corporate media."

"While it sounds like an outrageous claim," he wrote on his blog, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shootings ever took place -- at least in the way law enforcement authorities and the nation's news media have described."

Tracy's evidence?

Because victims' families asked for privacy to grieve. He then calls Emilie Parker's dad her "alleged father" and "contrived."

This, Tracy contends, can only mean one thing. The government and our media overlords have pulled a fast one on us again. We've been had. The whole thing, the alleged death of 20 children, wasn't anything more than conjecture, one prong among many in a sweeping initiative to pass gun-control legislation.

Later, Tracy published a lengthy and impossibly confusing timeline that he said supported his claims, because inconsistencies existed between early and late reports. Why the incongruities? asked Tracy. What were they hiding?

Tracy is everything that is wrong with media critique. By peddling conspiracy theories as academic currency, he's achieved some modicum of notoriety, and has proceeded to mop it up, going on radio specials and Tweeting everything out to his 117 loyal followers. "I am doing what we should be doing as academics," Tracy said. Well really, no, you're not.

For someone as ostensibly intelligent as he, he's apparently quite clouded with confirmation bias, and any discrepancy between reports can only mean -- idea explosion! -- a mass-media conspiracy.

OF COURSE.

Journalists capable of exercising a modest degree of autonomy and personal insight would have clearly recognized such leads, thereby extending them to a more rigorous examination of law enforcement spokespersons and the broader Newtown community. Instead, the news media once again wholly abdicated any such responsibility to serve the public by unquestioningly parroting official pronouncements and carefully instructing their audiences on exactly how to interpret the event.

Fire him. Now. Not for his opinions and bizarre theories, obviously, but a guy dumb enough to believe in a Sandy Hook set up has no business teaching at a university.

There is nothing wrong with this professor asking questions. I just watched Anderson Cooper and I was a little shocked that he attacked this guy on the air. The media lies to us all the time. Anderson , you literally say and ask whatever you want. Here is a news flash everyone is entitled to Freedom of Speech. There are many things about some of these shootings that don't add up. We the people should always question when we see inconsistencies. We are not all mindless fools who believe everything we hear on CNN , who I might add did not a good job of getting their facts when the story broke. I wish more educated peole would take a stand and ask questions. The fact that Anderson has called this guy out, really makes me wonder why you think his questions are such a threat. With that being said please don't contact relatives of the victims. Not only is that crossing the line it is a tool that someone like Cooper will use against you. They are going to make those who dare to question look like they lack sanity. Again, we should all question and not blindly follow.

As a former CT resident and former classmate of  Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung and now residing in Florida. I am truely appalled by his opinion, that is all it is an opinion, not a facts. Everyone wants their fifteen (15) minutes of fame, but it is a shame that he chose to do it on a subject that truely tears at our hearts. For myself and the rest of my Naugatuck 1983 classmates, her death was a testament to the wonderful person she was, her students and staff were more important to her than her own life. If it wasn't for her planning and preperation the tragedy at Sandy Hook could of resulted in more deaths.

Sir, unfortunately, you think too little and type too much. By addressing you, "journalist," I hope you'll ask yourself if whatever's Tracy's faults as an academic or human being, if this type of not very well written or thought out incitement at anyone who dares question the status quo only strengthens his assertions? How can a reader take seriously a blogger who hasn't even the intellectual heft to question the long discredited media-driven narrative of the Kennedy assassination when that narrative is easily usurped with cursory examination of readily available primary sources? If not the general discourse, then you owe the children of Sandy Hook, whose honor you claim to be defending, a better account.

It's like that other great government psy-op conspiracy, the holocaust, which really didn't happen quite the way the zionist elites would make us believe.

When are we going to stop believing the lies?

Sandy hook hoax, yet another violation of our rights. The gov’t constantly violates our rights.

They violate the 1st Amendment by caging protesters and banning books like "America Deceived II".

They violate the 4th and 5th Amendment by allowing TSA to grope you.

They violate the entire Constitution by starting undeclared wars.

Impeach Obama.

Tracy's ideas might sound extreme.  But spend an hour looking at the evidence on the web and you'll probably agree with him.

All he's saying is that the official story doesn't hold up.

This is just repulsive.  As a Connecticut resident I am appalled.  You can believe what you want to in Florida or where ever you may be, but here in Connecticut we are grieving.  I personally know one of the children who was murdered that day and I assure you that she, her parents, family and friends are real.    How easy it must be for you to sit thousands of miles away and start a conspiracy theory.  20 children lost their lives that day.  shame shame shame

The saddest thing is that there are loons out there that think hes right.  Bunch of heartless bastards, out to make everything into a conspiracy.

What about the 3 parent interviews that took place days after the shooting? These people did not look distraught. They looked well rested and calm. They did not have red or puffy eyes. They did not look like they were grieving a loss. "Maybe they're not criers" - all 6 of them? I find this very hard to believe.

I'm not saying I'm buying into the "hoax" theory, but one should think about things beyond what the media tells you to believe. There are just too many inconsistencies to say beyond a reasonable doubt that what the media has reported has been 100% truth.

When an associate professor can be so insensitive, it's not surprising why the murderer did what he did. I am sure Mr. Tracy had no one in the massacre. If he did, maybe he would've believed. For him seeing is believing. Who knows, he might doubt that as well.

alittlernr26
alittlernr26

oh yea, if he's wrong let them provide the name and identity of the second guy arrested.  Drop your kids off in black and camo...yea right!!  And since when is it inconsiderate to want to find out the exact truth for all who was involved?  If it were my child, I would want ALL inconsistencies cleared and ALL the facts matching up before I would rest in peace.  Yea call me crazy!  The truth is crazy.  I'll take crazy or stupid any day.

alittlernr26
alittlernr26

Of course when you get to close to the truth your gonna get crucified. Why fire a guy for simply stating the obvious.   No one is considering what the man is saying.  He has very valid questions and there are many inconsistencies.  This whole thing stinks.  When simple facts start outweighing the bull crap being spoon fed to you by this government, it's no longer a theory, it's a conspiracy. We are getting  information from the same government who lied and covered up Fast and Furious, lied and attempted to cover up Benghazi, lies and covers up his college transcripts, and the list goes on and on.  You start getting close to the truth and they try to make you out as a lunatic.  Go ahead,  let em pull the wool over your eyes.  Ignorance is bliss for liberal wing nuts.

You can say that you disagree with Tracy, but I do not think you (or anyone else) can so easily dismiss the statement "I am doing what we should be doing as academics."  Tracy has doubts because of inconsistencies.  He has publicly stated that perhaps the massacre did happen as reported.  Perhaps Tracy's musings and subsequent backlash will prompt a serious look at these so called inconsistencies so - like the dead - we can lay this tragedy to rest.  Have we turned into the sound-bite hysterical?  I don't know about you, but I stopped imbibing that type of media ages ago.  Listen to the entire argument made by Tracy.  All he is saying is that there are enough legitimate questions about the Sandy Hook massacre and the "facts" surrounding the case to call for a more thorough inquiry into the facts - ESPECIALLY if we (the United States) are going to use this case to re-evaluate or restrict citizens' 2nd amendment rights (I support the President's proposed gun control legislation btw).

@NWO4U What?  Why is it all these tea baggers are so obtuse and deny the facts?  I lost relatives in the Holocaust.  I know it was so horrible that many want to refuse that it happened preferring to think no human could possible do those atrocities, but THEY HAPPENED!

@BruceDeitrickPrice All he's saying is that he's a fool and an embarassment to all educators! As a CT resident, I am horrified at this narcissist attempting to get his 15 minutes of fame with such an outrageous claim.  As an educator, I will NEVER again recommend this university.  I question who would have tenured this man.

alittlernr26
alittlernr26

@salyjean BLAH BLAH BLAH... 20 children lost their lives and you don't care to get to the bottom of what is a long list of discrepancies.  That's what's sick.  Shame on YOU for not wanting the families to be given accurate reports that are consistent with the facts.

alittlernr26
alittlernr26

@narine.donald Insensitive for pointing out the FACTS don't connect the dots with the REPORTS?  What's insensitive is morons like yourself willing to drink the Kool Aid.  I mean look how honest of Gov was about Benghazi, Fast and Furious.  NO!! they wouldn't LIE!!

mccoy.terrence
mccoy.terrence

@alittlernr26 Until there's actual evidence to support Tracy's theories, airing them is, quite frankly, callous and disgusting. People's children died. And to say that the United States government has somehow injected obfuscation into the "liberal media's" coverage is just mean-hearted -- UNLESS there are facts. If there are facts, by all means. Tell it. If not, let these families mourn.

alittlernr26

@TracyisTrash @alittlernr26  Oh yea, I'm vile.  God forbid someone questions the inaccuracies of the current administration....  I would rather be vile by fighting for the truth for these families, rather than being a clueless, ignorant, and gullible twit like yourself, who gobbles up whatever  BS the media throws your way...

alittlernr26
alittlernr26

@mccoy.terrence @alittlernr26  The evidence is the FACTS do not add up to the REPORTS (or lack thereof) they are feeding us.  When facts start outweighing the BS from Washington DC, then it's goes beyond theory.  It's fact that the facts we know don't ADD up to the reports they are telling us.  If simply pointing out the inconsistacies is disgusting, what is ignoring the lies?  This stinks to high hell.  What is callous is that our bozos in Washington was tripping over themselves to pass gun control legislation before night fall, but they just needed the assault weapon to be beside the shooter, not in the trunk.  HA!  I mean, hasn't our government been overwhelmingly open and truthful? WHatever.

@alittlernr26 @smdrpepper I hear Xanix is very cheap these days.  You could REALLY use some.

And everything you mentioned was a FAUX "news" sponsered conspiracy theory.  Sorry, but Zimmerman is just as guilty as that slime who murdered all those people.  And you are just as bad for supporting such inane stupidity.

alittlernr26
alittlernr26

@smdrpepper  No, I'm saying this autistic kid was NOT alone.  They have taken the school and have every means of recreating whatever recording they want now.    But why not just show video surveillance of him walking toward the school?  You know they have it..  I don't want to see murdered children, but I would like to see all the surveillance footage, minus the dead.  Insanity?    I thought the same thing about Fast and Furious.  Benghazi.  The Beer Summit.  The Zimmerman skillet. The college transcripts. The black panthers, "Rev" Wright.  Tanks and F-16 to the Brotherhood.  Obama's love for violent Hollywood vs. his hate for corporate business.   Tea party bashing vs.  Union thug and OWS support.    ETC>>>>What 100% proof do you have that any child was murdered?  What 100% proof do you have that Adam Lanza was a lone suspect?  Look it up.  You provide the answers to what are very disturbing but valid points being made by supposed "theorist".

@alittlernr26 @TracyisTrash  Are you in this idiot's class....a poor excuse for an educator?  Perhaps you should have attended a few of the funerals and you wouldn't be wasting your time defending this "theory".  He's a nut.......   CT resident

Just because you have dumb commenters doesn't qualify you as a liberal. You're more like a centrist with an authority fixation. Liberals ask questions. Trying to shut down discourse by inciting for a teacher to lose his job speaks of a not-too-liberal outlook. Quite frankly (and this is a shame) your arguments only make Tracy's look good in comparison.

@alittlernr26 @mccoy.terrence It's true. Most days when I'm reporting stories, I'm usually about to make another phone call, but then, I'm all like, "Naaaah. Fuck it. I'm just too liberal."

Youre right. The government and media lie to us. 100s of millions of guns and only 12000 gun murders? Those facts dont add up. Pull the wool from your eyes america.
