Broward Cops Searching for One-Gloved Bandit

Cops are on the lookout for a crafty Walgreens robber who very nearly foiled their search.

Since police have highly scientific ways in which to track a thief down by means of obtaining fingerprints left at the scene of the crime, this robber thought ahead and brought himself a glove to put on so he can then snatch cash from the register and make a clean getaway. No prints left behind. Brilliant!

The robber went in, put the glove on his left hand, reached over and grabbed the cash just as he had planned, and made off with the money.

The one glitch in his otherwise foolproof heist: He grabbed the cash with the hand that did not have a glove.

Doh!

The robber struck the Walgreens at 3099 N. State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes around 10:45 p.m.

He waited patiently to strike, putting the glove onto his left hand and slipping merchandise into his pockets. The robber then went to the cash register, pretending to pay for the merchandise. But as soon as the cashier rang him up, the robber reached over and grabbed the cash with his nongloved hand before running out of the store.

The suspect is described as a black male, about six feet tall and weighing 185 pounds, and is seen wearing a black baseball cap with purple lettering, a black and purple hooded sweatshirt, and gray pants.

Also, one left-handed glove.

Anyone with information about this robbery or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact BSO Robbery Detective Theo Woulard at 954-321-4553 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or BrowardCrimeStoppers.org A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
