A man Broward Sheriff's detectives say they're on the lookout for a man who locked himself out of his own getaway car after loading two batteries he had just stolen into the front and back seats of the vehicle.

A surveillance camera located at Lou's Super Service Auto Repair, at 4431 SW 18th St., caught the suspect going back and forth between a garbage truck and his car, loading the stolen batteries into it.

After loading the car with the batteries, he pulls on the door handle and realizes he's locked himself out. He then walks to the driver's side. That door is also locked.

So then the man hatches a brilliant plan.

He walks over to the garbage truck, grabs a crowbar, walks back to his car, and smashes the small passenger-side window.

The man then gets into his car and drives away, but not before loading it with two more stolen batteries into the trunk.

The suspect is thought to be in his late 20s to early 30s and is seen driving a gold Chevrolet (with a busted small passenger side window). The video shows him wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, a black belt, and dress shoes (fancy!).

The incident occurred on November 10 at 3:45 a.m.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about this theft or the identity of the suspect to contact Detective Alexandra Holmes at 954-985-1953 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477.
