Allen West Legal Circus Resumes, Draws Flies; Staff Issues Threat

Categories: Fire Ant

Veteran's Day honored confessed torturer Allen West by seeing the courts closed, allowing the disgraced former officer and his attorneys a day off from further embarrassing themselves. The legal maneuvers they've employed in lawsuits against local elections officials to stave off defeat in last week's congressional race are so ludicrous that Palm Beach Circuit Court Judge David Crow needed only 30 minutes Friday to toss West's team out on their ears.

Not that it really matters to West, who has as much interest in serving as a legislator as he does in wiping Obama's butt. (We challenge anyone to name, off the top of their head, a single piece of legislation West has sponsored or even been associated with.) Colonel Crazy would rather break laws than make them, and the only point to his legal circus -- aside from a few additional minutes in the public eye -- is to play the victim card again and pave the way for the myth that he was stabbed in the back by "the liberals."

Fear not, though, West sycophants (and those of my fellow scribes who harvest Col. HuffnPuff for so much copy). The show must go on -- and will, starting today, when it resumes in St. Lucie County Circuit Court, where West's lawyers are expected to seek an injunction against certification of the election results.

Meanwhile, like flies on shit, West's carnival has drawn a raft of right-wing con artists, scrabbling for the limelight and shilling for shekels. Crackpot websites like NoisyRoom.net and NewsNinja2012 are all over the case. At ReviveAmerica you can "click here now to show your support... $5, $25, $100, $500 or any amount whatsoever."

Among the clowns in this tilted tent is Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, a freelance wingnut who's recently attached himself, isopod-like, to the West camp. Shapiro described himself to the Palm Beach Post as a "volunteer attorney," but he's played the fool for several years now, when not pleading for the birthers, on a crusade to rehabilitate the reputation of Stupid George W. Bush. Shapiro is a regular contributor to... Breitbart (of course).

On top of all that -- and more ominously -- West's campaign has threatened intimidation of St. Lucie elections officials by West's entourage of motorcycle-riding wannabe tough guys.

According to well-regarded political news website Politico, Chris LaCivita, a top West strategist, "said to expect widespread mobilization from West backers as St. Lucie election officials came under increased scrutiny. 'There are going to be things other than satellite trucks parked outside of the building,' he said. 'Stay tuned.'"

West's suburban commandoes may not be much to worry about, though. Here's how they whined about their treatment at Palm Beach County's ballot tabulation center last week.

Pass the hankie.

Now looking at property in North Carolina and Georgia beach areas. Checking local papers to see if they hate working people and people who might want to live there. Maybe Florida is not the place for retirees. People I spoke to yesterday are quite surprised by the venom of the "writer" of the Allen West story, and his attitude in the comments section. Not nearly as surprised as I am!

(I have never been to Idaho. Although Ant makes it look not so bad. Compared to Broward County, that is!) I am glad that I know about this before buying property! WHEW That was close!

So as an alternative to not getting their way, the Tea Party is fully prepared to incite violence and possibly get innocent people hurt or killed. =(

Thank you, Tea Party.  You've just crossed the line over to "domestic terrorists".

Well played.  Al-Qaeda would be proud.

A true wing nut and an embarrassment to our state.  He is acting like a 4 year old who just lost a game of Candyland to another child.  No wonder Florida is the political laughing stock of the nation.

Just as I thought: you are a libertarian mavericky independent who just happens to think anyone left of Joe McCarthy is a pinko liberal traitor... And you held your nose when you voted for Bush. And you have no idea how those teabags ended up hanging from your triangular hat. BTW, I do not disagree with you that mainstream media only spreads one side of the story. To be more accurate, they select the stories that they spread. What I fins completely idiotic and hilarious is your insistence that their selections have a liberal agenda. What I am saying, since you haven't paid any attention, is that their selection has only one purpose: to attract the audiences for their advertisers. There is a whole science behind achieving this goal, but spreading liberal agenda is not part of it. The fundamental problem you are having is the definition what "liberal" is. Like I said before, to you anything left of Allen West is liberal. And that makes up 90% of the country, my stupid clueless friend. This is the only reason why you are under the misguided impression that the media is liberal: 90% of what they broadcast is left of Allen West. Meantime, the media couldn't care less whether they are liberal or conservative. They are corporate capitalist, and that's the only ideology they will ever adhere to. But you're welcome to hang on to your independent libertarian mavericky teabags. Admitting that you are a con is just as difficult as admitting you are an idiot.

Have been looking at retirement homes in Broward. Looking at this, I think I'll wait. I see no problem with election challenges, and have seen quite a lot to justify them recently. Let Mr West challenge until he is done. Perhaps Broward is not where I want to live in peace and safety in retirement

We already have enough frightwingnuts in FloriDUH. Settle in Georgia. Allen the Carpetbagger will soon follow you there.

@anono2 Fortunately for the Broward housing market, plenty of working people and retirees can deal with political argument. Perhaps you'll get lucky, and no one will ever challenge your thinking in NC and/or GA.

Libertarian, mavericky, independent, pink, liberal, traitor, teabags, idiotic, hilarious, stupid clueless friend, misguided, a con, an idiot. Your mama must be proud! I did not vote for Bush. I did vote for Obama four years ago. I did not vote for him last week.

Thank you to the "corporate capitalists" in Broward County including the realtors! Without you there would be no jobs, including the ones at the paper.

Remember what they say about making assumptions? It's true. Your assumptions have made an ass out of you.

Since you consider yourself a liberal, I will now have to rethink my support of choice and gay marriage. It was the handing out federal money to bankrupt green energy companies and the federal funding of lobbying for legislation on sugar and tobacco that bothered me so much in the present administration.

After this little interlude it isn't just Broward County that I will avoid, it is ANYTHING that any "liberal" might support.

Thank you for showing me what a liberal is!!!

@anono2 By all means, let West go on making a fool of himself. You can read about it in the peace and safety of your Idaho bunker.

I always welcome intelligent discussion. I hardly see that in what you are doing. I am surprised your paper allows it. You do not argue points, you attempt to insult anyone who disagrees. That is not discussion, but maybe that's what it takes to sell papers down there.

Anyway, I'm checking for beach homes up the coast. I might look at the Baja region and Central America, also. Some place with warm and gracious people with whom one might have an intelligent political discussion.

Good luck to you folks in Broward. I am glad you don't need people like me. Fire Ant says so.

Or maybe this is just a radical Occupy website.  Who knows.

It was enlightening, but I have to go house hunting now.

@anono2 This is not the Allen West Fan Club. And we don't censor reader comments. May you find further enlightenment. And a clearer apprehension of fraudulent fascists like West.

If West fears the truth, why is he demanding it?

I wrote something really nasty, that you would have appreciated, then thought better of it. No point really in getting on the level where you rule. So many beach communities on the east coast to choose from. Thank you for this little education on Broward County. I'll pass it along.

@anono2 It is West who fears the truth. And "it is interesting" that the intimidation comes from his camp. On the basis of no evidence, they will cry "foul play" to the bitter end--and beyond. Despite all that, the process is working quite well--to the torturer's chagrin.

Another 48 guesses and you might get it. I grew up in Duval County and moved away after high school. But, this is not about me, this is about ascertaining whether there was a problem in the election. No one should be afraid of finding out the truth, no matter which way it goes. It is interesting that people want to block this. Or, that they try to intimidate those who want a fair election.  Let the process work.

IF there has been foul play, let's fix it. If not, let's move on. The truth is more important than your, or my, opinion. Now let's get back to global warming and second hand tobacco smoke, Comrades.
