Barack Obama Responds to Romney's 47 Percent Remarks on David Letterman

President Obama went on Letterman last night and addressed Mitt Romney's "47 percent" comments for the first time publicly.

David Letterman broke the ice by asking Obama how much he weighed, then commented on how the two weigh the same but how the president looks better. When Obama said Letterman looks good too, the talk-show host said, "Well, you haven't seen me naked."

"Let's keep it that way," Obama replied.

When the topic of "47 percent" came up, Obama dismissed the notion that those who support him see themselves as "entitled" or as victims. And then in true VELVET THUNDER fashion, he praised those who may not support or like him, saying that Republicans are "hardworking family people." And, as president, Obama said you have to represent all the people, not just a specific percentage or those who like you.

Passive-aggressive Velvet Thunder is passive-aggressive.

"When I won in 2008, 47 percent of the American people voted for John McCain," Obama said. "They didn't vote for me, and what I said on election night was: 'Even though you didn't vote for me, I hear your voices, and I'm going to work as hard as I can to be your president.'"

Obama said that "everyone makes mistakes," alluding to his own secretly recorded comments about guns and religion in 2008, and said he regretted his remark, unlike some people (*COUGH*ROMNEY*COUGH*)

"What I think people want to make sure of is you're not writing off a big chunk of the country," Obama said.
