According to the National Hurricane Center, a tropical depression cooked up in the Atlantic early this morning, and is expected to become a tropical storm sometime today.

TD 9, as they are calling it, had maximum sustained winds near 35 mph as of 2 p.m. today, and is moving west at 18 mph about 500 miles east of Guadeloupe.

The storm could turn into a hurricane by tomorrow but, as of now, South Florida is not in the CONE OF DEATH cone.

Hurricane hunters are currently investigating the storm.

As of now, tropical storm warnings have been issued for Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe and surrounding islands, St. Martin, St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, Montserrat, Anguilla, Barbuda, Saba, St. Eustatius and St. Maarten. Tropical storm watches were in effect for British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

TD9 will be named Isaac at 5 p.m. today.

NHC officials say, even though we're not in the cone, South Floridians should be prepared. Just in case Pat Robertson is right about these things and God is all mad at us.
