Allen West on Health Care: Obama Wants You to "Be His Slave"

Allen West: Ferreting out slavery disguised as compassion since he realized it would make people vote for him.
Congressman Allen West is perturbed by the U.S. Supreme Court's upholding of the individual mandate. That isn't particularly surprising, so when he called it "a sad day for Americans," there wasn't a blog post about it. Likewise when he said, "Well, I got a great idea. I believe that for personal security, every American should have to go out and buy a Glock 9-mm, and if you don't do it, we'll tax you. Now I wonder how the liberals will feel about that." Because it was stupid and unsurprising.

But now he's gone and said something dumb enough, hypocritical enough, that it's probably worth pointing out: At a Port St. Lucie rally on Sunday, West said of Barack Obama, "He does not want you to have the self-esteem of getting up and earning and having that title of American. He'd rather you be his slave."

Now, the Pulp does not often presume to speak for slaves. But it seems safe to assume that if any of them had caught wind of West's blatant, ridiculous trolling, they would probably be kind of confused as to how offering the disadvantaged food, education, and health care was in any way related to their lifetime of soul-crushing servitude and systematic oppression, except to say it seems like kind of the opposite thing.

But no matter. We're talking about Allen West -- the guy who declared himself a "modern-day Harriet Tubman." The guy who has said, over and over again, that using "that very nefarious theme of the race card" is "absolutely reprehensible" but then turns around and accuses the first African-American president of literally enslaving people. How about that time he turned a made-up racial attack into a fundraising drive? Let's not even get into the time he paraphrased Martin Luther King Jr. last week to call the Congressional Black Caucus racist.

Nobody had his views on health care change because West accused Obama of enslaving people. But the first black congressman from Florida since Reconstruction -- who has made quite a big deal about his being so -- is running around using blatantly racial rhetoric to attack legislation he doesn't like. Even if you agree with him -- is that really how we want the discussion to go?

Health Insurance to a sick is as important as food is to a hungry person. When a sick Individual goes to a hospital  and is treated with no health insurance Who Pays the bill, The Government does, and the Government is you and me.Every American Should have access to affordable Health Insurance.Collecting a penalty,a tax or what ever word suite your political leanings. The fact still Remains that the Cost of health care is driven by the vast amount of uninsured Americans. Why should you get a Tax refund in the thousand of dollars and all of us have to pay for your Health Care.I heard of a case recently of some on remaining on a ventilator for almost 20 years .You will never understand the real cost of health care cost until you are affected by it directly.Members of congress are privy to the best health Insurance Coverage .Why wouldn't they want other Americans to have Health insurance? Could it be POLITICS?

By controlling access to these things? I am denied health care coverage.  Folks are routinely turned down for procedures.  49,000 folks a year die because they cannot get health insurance, one every 20 seconds, or about as long it took me to write this comment. WTF Willis?

then turns around and accuses the first African-American president of literally enslaving people.  It would do well for the Broward New Times to note that when referring to Obama as  the first African-American president, the "anointed one" also has a white side to his racial makeup which I guess would make him the first Half African-American president even though Obama and the blacks would prefer that this factoid not be mentioned .  Lets not forget about mommy as she was white! Also, when we try to define family makeup, just as a point of interest lets be mindful that mommy divorced  daddy  (not the other way around) for having more than the acceptable number of wives. As far as I am concerned, any man who denies his race is not worthy of my vote.  Over and Out!

Don't worry, no one would think of taking away your tinfoil hat and your Thorazine.

West is right. Forcing people to buy healthcare is slavery. Progressives hope we'll forget that slaves were offfered "food, education, and health care" from their Democrat slavemasters. By controlling access to these things, they controlled their lives & spirits. Freedom means being able to seek (or not) seek these things on your own. If you demand the government give you everything you could ever want, don't be surprised when they take away everything you need.

I have two thoughts here... 1.  I have a pre-existing condition (TC).  As a small business owner (1 employee), I cannot, for any price, get health insurance.  I am automatically denied coverage.  I have the money, I am not looking for a freebie. In the end, I am left to pay out of pocket.  When I tore my bicep in half (boxing), I had two choices -- go thru life with an arm severely damaged or fund the surgery.  Choosing the later, it cost me nearly $15K. 2.  Some recent statistics - 57% of all middle income bankruptcies are from catastrophic health care costs. 75% of those sent into bankruptcy have health care coverage. Luckily for Mr. West, he has some of the best health care insurance available.  Free of charge to him and paid for by you and I.
