Deerfield Beach Man Shotgun-Murdered Over Cigarettes, Cops Say
Thervil got mad at the friend, 25-year-old Roderick Ferguson, as the two hung out with friends at Mayo Howard Park on SW 11th Way in Deerfield Beach. Police say Ferguson wouldn't give Thervil any more cigarettes, so Thervil threatened him with a handgun before two friends took him home and told him he shouldn't be pointing guns all willy-nilly at playgrounds.
Thervil, however, came back, and police say he tried to start another altercation with Ferguson -- unfortunately for Thervil, Ferguson now had a shotgun with him and used it.
Thervil fell to the ground with a shotgun wound to the chest -- he died as Ferguson and the others ran away. They were eventually captured with the help of dogs, a SWAT team, and a helicopter. Ferguson now faces first-degree murder charges.
