UPDATE, 4/11: He's been fired, per the Sun-Sentinel.

Original post, 4/10:
Last Thursday, prominent South Florida sports radio host Sid Rosenberg had a bad night. A really, really bad night. You already know he was arrested and charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license, but the details... woof.

According to police, Rosenberg -- the WQAM-AM (560) host whose license hath been suspended thrice -- was really, really drunk when he said he was on his way home from Tootsie's Cabaret, the Miami Gardens full-nudity strip club, just after 2 a.m. Thursday. And then, police say, it got ugly.

Two Hollywood police officers found Rosenberg sitting in the driver's seat of his 2011 GMC Yukon -- the driver's side door was open, and the engine was running. Oh, and he was parked in the middle of 63rd Avenue. They called a third officer, Jon Cooke, who ended up writing the police report. I'll let him explain what (allegedly) happened next. Kids, don't let this be you:
When I arrived, I discovered the arrestee laying on the ground behind his vehicle. He was in the fetal position, with his fingers in his mouth. He appeared to be attempting to induce himself to vomit. I noticed vomit on his clothes, as well as inside and next to the driver door of his vehicle. I noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and person. His speech was extremely slurred and he was crying. His face was flushed and his eyes were bloodshot.
After that, Cooke writes, Rosenberg agreed to a field sobriety test but then refused and "stated that he knew he would fail." He also refused to take a breathalyzer. Then he went to jail.

According to the Miami Herald, he's back on the air, and WQAM administrators said no action has been taken thus far. And here's the report:

So people that hate on him are just haters, but these are the same people that would listen to raps or rock group or an actor that has done the samething or beaten his wife or has been arrested with a needle in there arm, but 3 years later they are winning an Oscar ( iron man) some people have an addiction an if u have never had one just keep ur mouth quite, Sid has Stern talent but he can't get away from his demons, I hope u beat those demons Sid cause listening to the radio now will suck

I'm a Miami fan in everyway but Sid brought a different type of radio talk than any other sports guy on Miami Radio, 790, 940, and his station 560, there is no one who compares to him. He brings experience in every sport, there is no one I've heard on the radio for the past 15 years that makes radio entertaining because it's not all about sports so I could listen to him for more than 1 hr and not change the station because he has talent...hope he gets help and were ever station he ends up at trust me he has a lot of followers

Typical S.Fla fans whom cant even fill their football stadium every home game jumping all over a guy who screwed up one night and got caught....pleeez all you wannabe sports talk radio experts......this guy is the next best thing to ESPN radio down here. He mixed up everything on his show which made it a pleasure to listen to. Great guests and that touch of Stern added to his longevity on the air. Sid will be back stronger than ever and so will his fans. That drive home after work must be longer than ever now for those who enjoyed Sids show. Maybe ya'all can finally figure out the game of basketball, baseball and hockey to talk about with Sid when he returns.....or did those sports start too late down here??

PS  Never got fuked up @ a strip club before??

The police report should have been sanitized - to include his address is one thing, but to publish his SSN could have legal implications iaw The Privacy Act of 1974, at least. A pity really, when talent such as his, is subverted by its own creator.

First heard him via internet while in Afghanistan. Wondered what happened to Mad Dog, then learned the awful news that he was suffering from cancer.  We all know how that turned out, unfortunately. and my heartfelt condolences to the Mandich family, goes without saying.

One of his most impressive interviews, in my opinion, was a re-broadcast of an interview with the coolest sax man in recent memory, Clarence Clemmons. The occasion was his too early passing. Sid was at his best during that interview and gave me a glimpse into the man that Clarence Clemmons was, but never had the chance to articulate it so well in a public forum.

Another WQAM host bites the dust. And does it seem to anybody else that the local sports radio stations seem to re-cycle the same guys over and over again? Goldy is back again, for example. When we Jimmy Cefalo come back? Seems to be a pattern or at least a trend that permeates the local market.

As Roger Daltrey and Pete Tonswned might ask, "Who's next?"

Go Bills! Go Air Force!

I know Sid and he is a good man and a loyal friend. He fell hard that night and he knew  it, that's why he was so upset. Give him a break and let him get the help he needs. P. S. he's the best thing in sports radio and entertainment! Id like to see some of you people on your worst night!

I can't stand that idiot Sid and guess what, now also you. He was just about 99.9% obnoxious. He had to mention his wife and kids four hours a day, five days a week. I would check in for maybe 5 min. a week, just to confirm that same crap. Ok Mr. Friend, What's a "family man" doing getting drunk and possibly drugged up on a weeknight past midnight, where were you? How many chances does it have to take? An entire lifetime. Have you ever heard of injured and even killed people of drunk driver's. And in closing take a seat, my worst night you are waiting to see, would be Sid's and yourself's best night ever.

Sidney has a disease-alcoholism. He also has gambling issues and demons inside of him that he cannot overcome.  He has an over arching inferiority complex that try as he might to overcome he still believes that he is not good enough or smart enough or works hard enough.  He  tries hard to overcome them, but sadly he has failed time and again at doing so.  He is fortunate to have a loving wife who understands his demons and stands by his side.  Sidney is very talented and a huge plus for Florida radio.  He needs help at this time not sarcastic remarks from individuals jealous of his talent and success.  Hopefully,  the station he works for understands this, and will help him find a good rehab program that will work for him.  As a fan I support him and pray he will eventually get well.We love you Sidney!

Next to Big O, Sid knows more about sports than any of these dh's on south florida radio. I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs and gets back on the air. Just very very sad to me.

Screw that, he's a hack as well as a condescending douche. You have family killed by a drunk driver and then let us know how that "he has a disease" excuse works for you.  Hope he never comes back on the radio...EVER.

Thank goodness they booted him from New York's 1010 WINS.  He didn't have the class to be on that station.

Sid Rosenberg is the nicest guy you would ever want to meet. You should not make a comment if you do not understand addiction.  Sid will save more lives by sharing his own trials and tribulations than any fucking physician!
