Failed Vice Presidential Candidate Recommends Allen West for Vice President, Again

Look! He's seen a Constitution! That makes him qualified!
Sarah Palin reiterated her belief yesterday that Congressman Allen West is the best choice for vice president, touting his military service and saying that the eventual Republican nominee shouldn't feel obligated to pander to the Republican establishment.

"When I talk about going rogue, what I want is to encourage the GOP nominee to not think that they have to go with somebody necessarily safe," she said.

Right.

Palin did not point out what happened the last time a Republican nominee went rogue and picked someone who wasn't safe, but the fact that she's bloviating on Fox News and not attending meetings in the Oval Office says enough.

Palin last recommended West for the vice presidency last month. When asked about it on CNN, West responded that he was "always willing and ready to serve my country in whatever capacity that the American people would desire."

Here's a sliced-up video of Palin's interview yesterday; looking for a full copy, but this will have to do for now:

Just curious -- why is it that the Republicans don't seem to grasp the importance of the vice presidency? Reality check, folks: We've had assassinations, strokes, heart attacks and inauguration weather-caused pneumonia that brought vice presidents into power. It's no job for a simpleton, an uneducated beauty queen, or guys who two years ago were "defense consultant" or venal state legislator. FDR in '44 picked the ablest man in the Senate. Obama in '08 picked one of the best-informed leaders of the Senate. H.W. Bush picked an Indiana dimwit, and G.W. Bush picked the most depraved and unethical man in his party.

As a Mormon, Romney is going to need the religious fanatic wing of the party in November, so I'd expect him to choose either Santorum, who can't even carry his home state, or Mike Huckabee, whose home state doesn't have enough electoral votes to be of any importance. The GOP already has lost the women vote and the Hispanic vote, and will lose the black vote and the educated, well-read vote, so I suppose it doesn't matter. Makes you wonder what happened after Reagan and Dole, though. Today's GOP is so far out of touch they are on the dark side of Mars.

Go pick the criminal West, just to make sure a republican will not be sitting in the office for a while.I know I will be laughing.

What, an afro-american republican for VP!!!  That would be terrible for Barak as it would split the black vote.  Quick, slander West in any way possible.  It's the only hope to keep the anointed one as President, as he's incompetent and a fool.

Obama got 96 percent of the black vote in 2008. I don't think West would make a huge dent.

Since the blacks voted for Barak the fool, solely due to the color of his butt, West is exactly as qualified.

Please do pick West, he'll be as much of a nightmare for Romney as Palin was for McCain.
