|The new hair, on the right.|
Normally, the Pulp would never consider a politician's hairstyle news, but U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Weston) is a special case. For some reason, the internet hates
her hair. Her tightly spiraled, dyed-blond curls have been called "angry perm" and "nappy," and Rush Limbaugh once accused her of using mayonnaise on her tresses
. Last week, when we published a blog
about Wasserman Schultz canceling a speech at a local Muslim group's fundraiser, some commenters cared more about her hair than her decision not to appear at the event.
|Old hair, quite different.|
No one talks like this about Marco Rubio's hair or Charlie Crist's deep-fried tan, but whatever. Cyberspace is now in a tizzy
Wasserman Schultz appeared on MSNBC Friday with sleek brown, blown-out
hair. The crimped curls are gone, at least for the moment. And there's a Twitter hashtag, #waronperms
, being used to discuss this monumental event.
So maybe now people will pay more attention to the words coming out of the congresswoman's mouth?
