Lynn University Students Killed in 2010 Haiti Earthquake Will Get Their Degrees

On January 11, 2010, 12 students and two teachers from Boca Raton's Lynn University traveled on a service trip to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. On January 12, six of them were killed in the massive earthquake that hit the island, in what the school calls "the darkest day in the university's history."
Today, as part of a ceremony dedicating a $1.7 million remembrance plaza, the four students who were killed will be awarded posthumous degrees.
The families of Stephanie Crispinelli, Courtney Hayes, Britney Gengel, and Christine Gianacaci will receive their children's degrees today. In addition, Patrick Hartwick and Richard Bruno, two faculty members killed in the quake, will be awarded honorary degrees, according to Lynn spokeswoman Laura Stephens.
