Santaluces High School in Lantana has some extra police officers today, according to the Palm Beach Post, after two white teenagers from the school posted an online video of themselves "making racist comments."
We were kind of skeptical... but yeah, it's pretty racist.
Much of the four-minute video is just dumb giggling, and I was tempted to just leave the issue alone. Then one of the girls said, "So, guys, if you are watching this video right now and you have weave and you are black, please be offended, 'cause we are making fun of you." So here we are.
I get that kids do dumb things, but the internet won't forget this one. You don't need sensitivity training to know that it's probably not OK to say, "I don't like black people. They're annoying. They stink. They're ugly."
It looks like the internet has also served as the channel of the video's backlash: Twitter user Nayib Pastrana said that the story "exploded last night," the girls' contact information was being passed around and that "Santaluces FaceBook users have even claimed riots and 'cracka beatdowns' were planned to occur."
The Post reports that the video has been taken down several times, but there are extra uploads floating around YouTube. If the one below breaks, just search for "Santaluces High racist video" and you should find it. But it's probably not worth your four minutes.
