Patrick Murphy Following Allen West to New District 18 Congressional Race

BREAKING: Murphy has a nice desk and the will to win.
Democratic congressional candidate Patrick Murphy's campaign just announced that he will be moving from his original plans to run in District 22 up to the newly drawn District 18 to challenge Congressman Allen West for a seat in the House of Representatives.

West announced last week that he was giving up on reelection in his current district and would be running for a seat left behind by Rep. Tom Rooney.

"Allen West and the Tea Party represent an enormous threat to the middle class, seniors, the environment, and America's economic recovery. There is simply no one more divisive in Congress," Murphy said in a news release. "It's imperative we make sure he is not re-elected."

West swapped districts because the newly drawn map became far more Democratic; District 18 has slightly more registered Republicans than Democrats. Murphy is also going
up against one of Congress' most prolific fundraisers: While Murphy outraised every congressional challenger in the country last spring and finished the year with more than $1.4 million in contributions, West has so far raised $5.8 million from all 50 states for the 2012 cycle.

Still, the release included glowing blurbs from Democratic leaders, including Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who said she was "thrilled he is going to continue to take this fight to Allen West."

The race in District 22 looks to be between Democrat Lois Frankel and noted Islamophobic Republican Adam Hasner for now, but November is a long way down the road.

No one else has indicated that he will be running in the newly created District 18 against the two well-funded candidates already gearing up for a slugfest, but the race will be plenty interesting as it is.

"Today, our campaign is putting Mr. West on notice," Murphy said. "There is no safe district he can run to."

Saw an article in the Sun-Sentinel the other day. Publiix contributed $12,500 to Allen West's campaign. Couldn't believe Publix would support such an extremist candidate. Taking our business elsewhere. Suggest others do the same and tell Publix why.(publix.com)

I thought Broward Commissioner Kristin Jacobs is running in 22.

I guess we won't be hearing any more History lessons from Congressman Allen West on the Battle of Thermopylae and how they overcame insurmountable odds.West proved he has little of the courage instilled in the Spartan Warriors.

LOL..."There is no safe district he can run to..."  Ya, the Lt Col is scared to death of the bean-counter.  Funny stuff Murph.  Allen West debating Patrick Murphy will look like Lebron James playing 1-on-1 basketball against Michael Moore.  This should be hilarious!!

Until criminal West opens his mouth. Game over. Murphy should never get into a battle of wits when his opponent is unarmed.

West never said he was following orders.  He certainly knew he violated "the book" and immediatetly went to his Superior and reported his brave action.  His action saved American lives.  Arm-Chair Liberalism means nothing in this instance, save your keystrokes.  Why don't you have a face-to-face with the parents, siblings, wives and children of the warriors who are still alive today because of West's heroic actions on that day??  He put the lives of those under his command ahead of his unblemished military career...that is true LEADERSHIP, that is LOVE for his Brothers & Sisters at arms.  Now...how 'bout that coke-head pot smoker from Hawaii??  You know the one with the Communist Mother??  Bet you think he's really great for America.  Libs........

So it's acceptable that Obama was a user??  I'd say it was a criminal action, he just didnt get caught (or turn himself in to his superiors or parents right after going against 'rules').  He has had EVERY door open up for him before he even crossed the street to get to the door.  He has lived a very privileged life.  The man has no angst in his background beyond the hatred for America that his relatives taught him.  West came from the inner-city, a place that Obama never knew as a youth.  Obama is a patriot??  What color is the sky in your world??  I believe he'll lose in '12.  And if he should somehow win, the GOP will keep the House and win the Senate.  they wont let the Socialist hater pass anything but gas.  That gives me peace as I watch Obama attempt to turn America in Europe.  Liberalism, a disease of the brain.

Calling someone who experimented with cocaine as a teenager a "cokehead" is about like calling Dick Cheney a role model. I'm very proud of Mr. Obama, what he has overcome in his lifetime in an ignorant, racist society to become a first-rate scholar, model husband and father, and devoted patriot. Considering the obstructions and near-treasonous attempts to make him fail, I am doubly proud of his successes. He got 69 million votes last time; I'd say more than 70 million in this year's landslide. Get used to it, G.I. Joe.

He was fined $5K and was not given a dishonerable discharge.  He received full benifits of a retired Lt Col, and keeps that title...Lt Col.  The letters of support from his Superiors, the men whose lives he saved by sacrificing his career ahead of their lives, and by many in DC show he was indeed a hero.  Leadership, sometimes, does not follow a book.  Leadership more often than not is life-saving decision making while bullets are flying.  Now...your term "criminal" would imply that anyone fined for doing something illegal by book standards is not worthy of being elected.  I wonder how many politicians were found guilty of speeding or maybe doing something stupid as a teenager and fined accordingly...a bunch of criminals.  West was putting his life in ahrms way for his country when YOUR president was snorting coke and smoking pot on a Hawaiian beach.  I'll take the warrior...you can have the coke-head

Any civilian police officer who treated a prisoner the way West treated that Iraqi policeman in his custody would be (1) fired from the force and (2) prosecuted. Anyone who would defend the conduct of such a military officer does not deserve the right to vote. West was not following orders (the Nazis' defense). West acted on his own, just as he does every day, with utter disregard for the rights, or feelings, of others. He should be sent, permanently, to a war zone, where he belongs.

West is a criminal??  Umm  OK.  Keep hanging on that chad Lifelong Dem.  Murph is not doing anything but avoiding an ugly primary against Lois...wasting each others $$ in a useless fight.  He's looking for a dog biscuit from DWS and is willing to take a political beating to get an "atta-boy".  Just hope he doesnt soil himself when actually confronting the Lt Col.

Anyone in the armed forces of the United States of America who violates the Uniform Code of Military Justice is a criminal. Civilian impersonator West is a criminal. The U.S. Army so declared him, and he so remains.
