Sylvia Poitier, to the Surprise of No One, Won't Be Going to Jail

• Dude you have such a hard-on for him that every time you mention him, you have to mention something about woman beating etc. Like I once said on your blog, you lose focus by attacking him. You are correct I do have a problem with both of you commenting. We have have a self-promoter ala PT Barnum and a family protector who barely has a leg to stand on. I was trying to be nice and give you some credit, but honestly, you do her and your family a disservice every time you try to defend her while hiding behind the fact you are protecting your D2. In mighty chaz's eyes, he is the supreme hero and you and your family are the legion of doom. In your eyes, you are the glorious protector of un-supported people of D2. But honestly, both and I mean both of you are barely a pimple on this world's ass.

• I've never said he's evil.  I do think he is a hypocrite and that is what I don't like.  Thankfully Burnin we live in a free society where we can basically say whatever we want and I can't for the life of me understand why you seem to have such a problem with me or Chaz commenting... So it would seem that he would not only have to leave space for Chaz and David Cody comments, but then another space for your little comments about Chaz and my comments. Thanx!!

• The part you don't seem to consider is that she lies and evades, even if, as you say, her intentions are "honorable". . I know much more than you give me credit for and am much more involved than you presume me to be. Your arguments and defense of her evade the actual issues she was charged with. • The Noland's and yet all of District 1 and others are quick to say D2 is apathetic and we are this and we are that and yet they have voted Noland in as Commissioner and then knowing her history voted her in as Mayor...and then no one is really pointing the finger of corruption where it really belongs...not defending her by pointing out others misdeeds but pointing out the hypocrisy behind the name calling and badgering and discounting of my district and it's residents.  That is what I don't like and what I am fighting against..I despise hypocrisy!!!

• She does deserve the honor.  Do you know the real facts of this case or are you going on your own preconceived notion of what happened b/c of what Chaz, Matt, and others have said.  have you taken the time out to actually review the details and not just the hype and sensationalism that Matt and the like have spewed out for the last 2 years???  Even, if you don't like Sylvia, for whatever reason, that should not color the facts of this case and the fact is for what this case was about we need more politicians who are willing to do what it takes for their residents.  She asked her brother to pay the tax deed off on low income housing, so the residents don't get booted out on the street and the property sold, which is what the developers and the City wanted.  The City hounded the group for the water bill money and threatened to shut off the water on those low-income residents who lived there.  The group didn't have the money and asked the City for it...with agreement in place to pay the water bill, which they did..the group nor SYlvia, nor her brothev ever looked for a dime in this case and that was clearly proven by the State's own witnesses, so where was the chance for him to get anything from those votes for a guilty verdict.  These Sensationalist won't detail the case because they know if they do, people may change their opinions...So I challenge all of your posters to review this actual case and then comment...not what Matt says, not what Grimm says, not what Chaz says..look into this case...

• Are you defending Sylvia by citing other's misdeeds? I don't think that you will find any sane knowledgeable  person in Deerfield who will not agree with you that the majority of elected officials in this town are guilty of crimes. i.e. Gonot, Deetjens, Cappellini, et al. Gonot went to trial, was found guilty ( misuse of $5-6 k of election contributions ) and given 12 months sentence. Somehow Cappellini has delayed his trial on corruption charges, but will eventually come to trial. The Noland's have, deservedly, been beaten up for their misdeeds, yet somehow have escaped sanction. Something I will never understand is how she and her family feed at the taxpayer's trough so blatantly. Husband and son conflict of interest with Fire Department. Daughter as the Swimming facility director. Son's unpunished active role in destroying political opponents campaign signage. Point being, Sylvia and District 2 is not being treated unfairly. There is no lack of questionable activity going on throughout the city's representation. So patience. One at a time. Chaz may be correct with his prediction, and if so, it would behoove her to lay low and take her slap in stride. Just my opinion. In your defense, compared to Trinchitella having a street named for him, Sylvia's building namesake is no worse, but neither, arguably,  deserves the honor.

• Dear Matt, When doing a story about Slyvia could you leave space for Chaz to quantify how awesome he is, and how all of this was done because of himself solely. Also, please leave room for David Cody's response of how Chaz is an evil person. Because honestly, every article about her just resorts to these two pissing on and at each other. Thanks

• The real District 2 laughs at Peggy's, Burgess's, and the Firemen's puppetry in D2.  Things will change!!!  A new day in all of Deerfield Beach will come and I personally look forward to it.

• Thanks, Matt!!! Maybe if you spent more time investigating, instead of replaying old lies then maybe you will be a real reporter. Have you looked into Peggy Noland's conflict of interest vote with this BSO merger and how her husband and a select few others will now be able to double into the retirement pool.  Costing the taxpayers of Deerfield Beach millions in their drop plan retirement benefits which Peggy as a commissioner voted for without filing conflict forms, and now under BSO witht the Florida retirement System,,again without filing the real reason she abstained b/c it created a conflict.  But you still have a hard on for Poitier and the black community obviously.  The New Times up to it's same Old Tricks...laughable!!! Chaz Stevens yesterday, telling reporters that adjudication of guilt of Poitier, she's a criminal.  I only wish the soundbite included my comment to him about him having his adjudication withheld in his court case for violating an order of protection against domestic violence ...WOW!!!

Who somehow wants us to believe they only took in $17K in revenue for the 2008 Mango Festival -- when, in fact, pictures show the streets full of folks. 2. <strong>Sylvia Poitier</strong>. See below. 3. <strong>Felecia Poitier</strong>. Along with her Mommie, owes the State of Florida (aka you and I) in excess of $60,000 for fines relating to their <strong>unlicensed dry cleaning business</strong> dumping some of the harshest chemicals known to mankind (PERC) into the ground. 4. <strong>Gloria Battle</strong>. Nominated to temporarily replace Poitier on the dais (Capellini removed). During her first meeting, she votes to approve $12K in funding to an organization for which she was on the Board and which she wrote (and was paid for) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">the very same funding grant</span>. When confronted about the payment checks, her answers went from what check, to oh that check, to <em>oh those THREE checks</em>. So, these people my friend, if you listen to Poitier and her band of thieves, these people are the people who supposedly represent all of District #2. Personally, I find that hard to believe that the entire district is on the take. No way. Just a certain segment all too versed at taking bites out of the gov'nt cheese. Having met and spoken with Commissioner Ben Preston (an amazing fellow), I know there is at least one person who will not use the power of office for personal gain.

• Broward county is a fucking joke and laughingstock. State attorney Satz is a worthless piece of shit and if people wise up they will vote his sorry ass out of office so he can spend even more time skiing in Aspen Colorado.

• Matt; I can say with total confidence that Poitier's legal troubles are not yet done. There Is something else (a brand new problem) coming her way. Just right over the event horizon. I know this for a fact. Best to you.
