Floridians Now Slightly More Likely to Approve of Governor Than Believe in Haunted Houses

​For the first time ever, more people approve of Gov. Rick Scott's job performance than believe that houses can be haunted by ghosts.

Scott scored his highest approval rating ever in a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning, with 38 percent of folks thinking he's doing an OK job.

According to the last Gallup poll that tested people's belief in haunted houses, just 37 percent were believers -- the same score as Scott's previously high score for an approval rating.

On the other hand, women are still more likely to think ghosts are haunting houses than think Scott's doing a good job, as 32 percent of women gave the governor a thumbs-up to Quinnipiac, but 42 percent told Gallup that the spirits of dead people are probably hanging around houses.

Still, the governor's created double-digit distance between himself and the public's belief in "witches" -- which was at just 21 percent in the last Gallup poll testing that gem of information.

Also, 34 percent of people said Florida's economy was worse since Scott took office, compared to 16 percent who said it was better.

For those 16 percent who said it was better, 81 percent gave Scott credit for turning it around. For the 34 percent who thought it was worse, 65 gave credit to the governor, rather than president Obama.

But what we really want to know is whether there are really more people who believe the governor's doing a good job than believe that ghosts are flying around houses.
