O'Malley's Sports Bar in Margate and Miller High Life already declared bin Laden's death a good thing -- with cheap beer buckets.
It hasn't passed either chamber of Florida's Legislature yet -- so it's not official -- but memorial bills filed in the House and Senate suggest that Osama bin Laden's death was a good thing.

Ranking somewhere around Sen. Stephen Wise's "Christmas break" bill as far as importance is concerned, the bill would send copies of the memorial to President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, House Speaker John Boehner, and Florida's congressional delegation, telling them Florida thinks it's a good idea bin Laden's dead.

The House version of the bill, House Memorial 47, has already passed through both of the committees it was assigned to, and the Senate version was just filed today.

Here's the summary of the memorial:

A memorial to the Congress of the United States recognizing the death of Osama bin Laden as a positive step forward in the war on terrorism and declaring a continuing unity of commitment against terrorism, its crimes against humanity, and al-Qaeda.

The memorial goes on to call bin Laden's and al-Qaeda's actions "repugnant"; reminds everyone that he orchestrated 9/11 and other terrorist activity and that bin Laden was caught thanks to President George W. Bush, President Obama, and the troops; reminds us that President Obama authorized taking out bin Laden; and reminds us that the Navy Seals did just that.

Also, "Osama bin Laden's death provides some degree of closure as it relates to September 11, 2001."

Signed, Florida.

Let's keep up that truly thought-provoking work up there in Tallahassee, folks.
