A Few Palm Beach County Republicans Jumped the Gun on Ballots, but It Could've Been Worse

There have been a few news reports around the state about Republicans who got their absentee voting ballots in the mail a few weeks ago and sent them right back in with the Rick Perry/Michele Bachmann/Herman Cain/Jon Huntsman/Gary Johnson selection, which kind of sucks, since they're not running for president anymore.

To make matters worse, there have been reports of people actually asking for the ballots back.

We're told some Palm Beach County Republicans have marked their ballots with presidential choices that aren't too great in hindsight, but at least no one who sent in one of those ballots actually asked for it back.

Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher says "several" voters have called asking for a new ballot because they didn't like their choice, but they hadn't actually sent the ballot in yet.

In that case, Bucher says the voter can destroy the ballot they voted Perry/Bachmann/Cain/Huntsman/Johnson/other on and they'll send you a new one.

To make it clear, Bucher says, "Once we receive a ballot from a voter, they cannot retrieve it back."

People are actually confused about this.

For those who read the Sun-Sentinel, you'd know the paper also sent out the warning to avoid jumping the gun a few weeks ago.

A Republican Party of Florida spokesman told the Miami Herald that more than 143,000 of the state's 455,622 requested absentee ballots have already been returned.
