Broward Brady List Includes 137 Current and Former Cops, 57 of Them BSO Deputies

Categories: Crime
The Broward Bulldog's Dan Christensen obtained Broward's "Brady list" -- a laundry list of cops who are being investigated for any number of reasons, ultimately to be used by defense attorneys to question the veracity of a cop's testimony.

The list is the result of a 1963 Supreme Court case involving Brady, in which the high court ruled that withholding evidence such as the questionable trustworthiness of cops is a violation of a defendant's due process.

That said, the list Christensen obtained from the Broward State Attorney's Office includes 137 current and former cops in the county, 57 of them deputies of the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Cops qualified for the list for things as minor as falsifying records and as serious as former BSO corrections deputy Charles Floyd being convicted of handcuffing and raping a female inmate.

The list includes cases that are both open and closed, as cops and former cops will stay on the list as long as they could be called -- or more likely, not called -- as witnesses in other cases.

Current and former cops from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department are listed a few times throughout the document, and Pembroke Pines, Davie, Lauderhill, Miramar, Sunrise, Coral Springs, Plantation, Hallandale, Hollywood, Margate, Wilton Manors, Seminole, and Coconut Creek police departments each have at least one representative on the list.

Not surprisingly, Broward Public Defender Howard Finkelstein says there are more than 137 cops that should be on the list.

He told Christensen there may be around 450 names that deserve spots.

Al Lamberti will be added soon. His entire department is corrupt and the majority of the officer are on pills.

Just wondering...
Just wondering...

If and when several of these officers are cleared, will you be printing a redaction and apology?

So the cops ain't perfect.  And according to the supremely honest defense shysters, all their clients are innocent.  I'm in favor of trusting the cops a bit more than the perps, as somebody is doing all the raping, murdering and robbing and I bet it insn't the fuzz.
