Miami Dolphins Fire Gum-Chewin', Mustache-Sportin', Field-Goal-Lovin' Tony Sparano

Is it fourth down yet? We gotta punt this friggin' thing.

​There are three things Tony Sparano is really good at -- chewing gum, wearing a mustache, and sending in the field-goal unit.

Apparently none of those helps the Miami Dolphins win football games, so he's out at head coach.

Assistant head coach/secondary coach Todd Bowles was named as the interim head coach at a news conference this afternoon.

Team owner Stephen Ross said that the final decision to boot Sparano was made this morning and that the search for the new head coach starts immediately.

Ross added that "South Florida really wants a winning team," which is a nice way to describe how the Dolphins have performed under Sparano..

Sparano's record as Dolphins head coach was 29-32, with a 4-9 record this season and 7-9 records the two previous years. The only winning season Sparano had with the Fins was in 2008, when the team went 11-5.
