Florida Keys Cops Were Driving Cabs Undercover for Months

Imagine for a moment all of the strange things that have to happen in the backseat of a taxi in the Florida Keys.

Now imagine that the driver of that car may not have been some burned out beach bum, but instead an undercover cop.

We'd like to think the detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office taking part in "Operation Taxi Cab Confessions" saw a thing or two over the four-month operation.

The sheriff's office is more concerned with the alleged drug dealers it busted, as it announced the results of the operation late last week, which apparently won't be aired on HBO.

The detectives were working undercover in the Marathon area, and ended up buying a bunch of drugs and stolen property, according to Deputy Becky Herrin.

Herrin says detectives bought weed, cocaine, stolen GPS devices, and stolen radar detectors throughout their time as cabbies.

They started serving warrants on stuff they'd uncovered on Thursday, starting with alleged cocaine dealer Pshantell Scott, who the cops say had 10 grams of the powdered stuff, and a few "crack cocaine cookies."

She'd sold cocaine to the detectives on two different occasions, the sheriff's office says.

They served four more warrants -- leading to four more arrests -- of people accused of selling them drugs, and Herrin says the sheriff's office plans on making more arrests out of this operation.
