Darrel Horne Requested That Sheriff's Deputies "Taser Me, Bro" -- They Did

It's been more than four years since Andrew Meyer's famous "Don't tase me, bro" moment at the University of Florida, but on Friday, bro, Darrel Horne wanted the Taser.

According to Brandon Haught of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Horne's moment came after diving naked into a lake in an attempt to avoid being arrested for stealing a boat -- followed by his request for deputies to "Taser me, bro."

They did, and Horne later thanked them for doing so.

The sheriff's office says Horne and his buddy, Matthew Shrider, ran out of gas in their truck around 4 p.m. Friday as they were on their way to meet a friend on the opposite side of Lake Botts.

The men decided to jack a boat from a dock, but it didn't have oars, so they began to paddle out with a piece of wood they found, police say.

By the time sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, Horne and Shrider hadn't made it too far.

Shrider complied with deputies' demands to return to the shore, but the cops say Horne cursed at deputies, got naked, and tried to get the hell out of there.

Shrider got back to shore, where deputies found an ax, a beer can, and a bottle of rum in the boat.

Meanwhile, the sheriff's office called in a helicopter and Florida Fish and Wildlife officers on a boat began looking for the naked Horne.

They eventually found him, brought him back to shore, and put both Horne and Shrider in the back of a patrol car.

The cops say Horne started kicking Shrider repeatedly, so the deputy got out, opened the door, pulled out his Taser, and ordered Horne to stop.

Cue Horne, who said, "Taser me. Taser me, bro," according to the sheriff's office.

The deputy complied with Horne's request and blasted him with the Taser.

Horne stopped kicking his buddy and began to comply with the deputy's orders.

"Later, Horne apologized to deputies and thanked them for Tasering him," the sheriff's office says.

Both men were charged with armed burglary, grand theft, and resisting an officer without violence and were booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach.
