Allen West: Occupy Wall Street Protesters Will Be Known as the "Sons of Anarchy"
|According to Rep. Allen West, Occupy protesters.|
West celebrated the 238th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party on Friday, and of course, couldn't go without insulting someone along the way.
"We remember them today in celebration of our hard fought freedoms and liberties," West said. "In the future we shall look back upon the 'Occupy Wall Street' protesters as the Sons of Anarchy."
Maybe West didn't catch this one, but historians say the British government at the time used to call the Sons of Liberty the "Sons of Violence" or the "Sons of Iniquity."
On the other hand, he might just watch too much cable TV and got excited about Sons of Anarchy's season four finale, which aired the week before.
Or maybe he just needed more attention.
West's spokeswoman also responded to concerns about the congressman's Nazi-propaganda comments last week, telling Broward Politics that West stands by his remarks, and to consider West's comments to be insensitive would be a "perfect example" of propaganda.
West had claimed Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels would "be very proud of the Democrat Party, because they have an incredible propaganda machine."
That drew a not-so-pleasant response from several individuals and organizations.
Anyway, we'll be on the lookout for leather vests at the next Occupy meeting.
