Maykel Borges Was Denied More Free Beer; Cops Say He Returned With a Hatchet

Apparently for Maykel Borges, it's not always Beer 30.

​Let's review the last few weeks in people using sharp objects against their neighbors after not getting free things: Marathon resident Kenneshia Thurman allegedly almost stabbed a baby after not receiving free bread slices from her neighbor, and Oakland Park resident Dorothy Cooper wanted $2, no, $5 -- either way, she didn't get it and allegedly stabbed her neighbor.

Now there's 32-year-old Maykel Borges, whose Friday included free beer, no more free beer, and a trip to his neighbor's place with a hatchet.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Borges showed up to a trailer inside the Trailerama trailer park in Marathon all day Friday asking for beer.

The people at the trailer said they gave Borges several beers throughout the day but eventually they told him to go away and leave them alone, according to the cops.

Borges left for a while -- until the cops say he came back with a hatchet.

Police say he began to argue with several people at the trailer before swinging the hatchet at one man -- leaving a cut on his body -- and then dropping the hatchet and heading back to his place.

The cops showed up around 6 p.m., found the hatchet, and found Borges shortly thereafter, since he lives in a trailer just down the block.

Borges was booked into the Monroe County Jail and faces charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

The man with the hatchet wound was transported to Fishermen's Hospital for treatment on what police are calling "a small cut on his side."
