Allen West: Obama's Delay of Keystone XL Pipeline is "Pathetic"

allen-west-military.jpg
Rep. Allen West
Rep. Allen West isn't too happy about the State Department's decision -- or as West says, "Campaigner-in-Chief" Obama's decision -- to delay the Keystone XL Pipeline project, which means it's time for another rhetoric-loaded statement from the congressman.

According to the State Department, a more thorough analysis of some of the issues regarding the pipeline -- chiefly the environmental issues of running it through the Sand Hills in Nebraska -- would put the project back up for consideration in 2013.

In West's opinion, that's "pathetic."

"Campaigner-in-Chief is at it again, this time denying America a positive step towards achieving energy independence," West says. "The President's decision to delay further study of the Keystone XL oil sands project is an indicator that American jobs, restoring our economy, and our national security is not as important as his personal self-interest and that of radical environmentalists.....pathetic."

Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman, a Republican, reportedly called the Legislature into a special session over the projected path through the state's Sand Hills and asked the Obama administration to deny the permit for the project.

Here's how the State Department explained the problem with running the pipeline through the area:

The comments were consistent with the information in the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) about the unique combination of characteristics in the Sand Hills (which includes a high concentration of wetlands of special concern, a sensitive ecosystem, and extensive areas of very shallow groundwater) and provided additional context and information about those characteristics. The concern about the proposed route's impact on the Sand Hills of Nebraska has increased significantly over time, and has resulted in the Nebraska legislature convening a special session to consider the issue.

A statement from the White House says President Obama supported the decision and added that the "final decision should be guided by an open, transparent process that is informed by the best available science and the voices of the American people."

It doesn't appear as if West and his supporters approve of the "pathetic" decision.

After West posted his comments on his Facebook page, one supporter asked, "And WHEN are the ones we PAY in washington going to STOP the terrorist in the oval office???"

Since you guys read this crap paper by this propagandist hater and have no ability to research on your own, it is really scary that you are allowed to vote. The Left of Center Gov in Nebraska was pressured by your great Pres to put it off until 2013. Allowing the Rep Gov to be on the front of this decision deflects the blame. You guys down there in lala land really need to get out more and do not take all of your queues from Matt Hendley. He is a hack with an agenda and you fools are falling hook, line and sinker.

And Debbie Waserman said the civility problem was on the right? The dicision to hold off the pipeline by the "Rep Gov" was inspired by your wonderful pres and you left wing tree hugging morons. Dont you think it is a little odd that Obomb puts off the decision until just after the election? He wants to say no but many Unions who will be getting the job to install said pipeline will be very pissed.

Mr Henley, it might do you best to keep your Liberal rhetoric to yourself and just report the facts as pertains to Rep West! It is obvious that you are biased in your reporting!

This summer, an Exxon Mobil pipeline carrying oil across Montana burst suddenly, soiling the swollen Yellowstone River with an estimated 42,000 gallons of crude just weeks after a company inspection and federal review had found nothing seriously wrong. And in 2010, in the Midwest, a 35-mile stretch of the Kalamazoo River near Marshall, Mich., once teeming with swimmers and boaters, remains closed nearly 14 months after an Endbridge Energy pipeline hemorrhaged 843,000 gallons of oil that will cost more than $500 million to clean up. -NYTimesApproximately 28,000 barrels of oil were spilled in the Rainbow pipeline rupture, which was discovered April 29 in Alberta Canada. -Calgary HeraldThe Trans-AlaskaPipeline, partly owned by BP, shut down afterspilling several thousand barrels of crude oil in 2010.Approximately 33,000 gallons of crude were spilled into the Red Butte Creek from an oil pipeline owned by Chevron in 2010.

I can go on but I don't think there is a need to, these are just some of the spills in North America. Besides the hazards of these pipelines, the harvesting of the oil tar sands of Canada is one of the most destructive means of extracting oil, and puts out the highest levels of Carbon which directly contributes to Climate Change.

Are we still operating under the premise that the oil we extract from our own land is "ours"? It is not; it is sold on the free market, exported to foreign nations.

Mr. West is just another tin horned politician who can't even run in his district.  He was so afraid of big bad Debbie he ran in a district he doesn't live in.  Now he has sold out to the Boehners etc and will become one more right wing big mouth who gets money from the energy folks.

He is the most vile little person in the congress in his own words.

Let's ban all gas sales (petroleum and natural) to all sniveling environmentalists.  That is what they want to do to the rest of us.  Pipelines have a very long and safe history.  Make the environweasels walk the walk and see how long it takes for them to change their tune.

So west thinks we should trust the oil companies NOT to destroy everything in the path of this idiotic idea.  That we need to take them at their word. Here is a better question, when HAVEN'T they ruined everything they touch?Do they even realize there are fault lines along the path of this monstrosity? One good quake an we will have oil over a LOT of farmland.Once again, a republican tea bagger shows just how idiotic they are.

Memo to Allen:

In this sentence:

"The President's decision to delay further study of the Keystone XL oil sands project is an indicator that American jobs, restoring our economy, and our national security is not as important as his personal self-interest and that of radical environmentalists.....pathetic."

... the word "is" should be "are". Subject-verb agreement is fourth-grade English. Pathetic.

You had valid points until you mentioned your belief in "Climate Change" which used to be Global Warming until East Anglia scientist were exposed and proof was pointing towards cooling. Here is a fact for you genius, did you know that making batteries for your green cars creates a larger footprint than all of the examples you posted? Your mercury infused light bulbs which by law require HAZMAT for cleanup if broken are big winners as well. You are made to believe that you are fighting for a cause when you are actually being used to strip the rights away from all of us for the power of the few.At the end of the day, you cannot legislate the climate at the expense of the people.

So useing your logic we must immediately park all cars and trucks and aircraft as they all use oil. Is that your answer? Please share your logic with your children when they get hungry tonight and you have to quit your job because oil is not allowed?

An you are a fool! Why its very simple pipelines can be built to withstand almost any disaster. The question is will the locals who issue the permits force them to or will the local inspectors allow crappy workmanship. An dont tell me they cannot be made foolproof they can and do everywhere but thats besides the point do you want the terrorists in Saudi land get our dollars or american companies and the american economy witch is desperate for jobs but oh no we cannot have what every nation on the planet has pipelines. There are exactly 45,000 miles of pipelines in the middle states with zero problems.............The days of squirrels being more important than the nations economy are over go back to your silly books and leave the nation to the adults......

Funny that Obama recevied the biggest donations of any pres from BP. Why would he run in a district where people like you believe words coming out of Debbie's mouth? There are a set of drones in this nation, you for example, that have no idea what is going on and are useful as idiots only. Debbie feeds you crap soup and tells you it is the best soup you have ever had so you eat, smile, and ask for more. You are told to hate, therefore you do. If West was a Leftist, you would be a racist but since he is a Conservative blk man, you spare no expense in trashing the one that got away from the plantation.

There are 7 Wells in the Everglades hooked to a pipeline that has not ever had a leak into Broward County. Explain that away Mt Tree Hugger..Bye the way they have been there since 1947? In case you are too ill minded to realize it it takes gasoline from oil to move your food your family and to get you to work...Or are you like our fool in command its better to give US dollars to foreign terrorists????????

You are the one stated pipelines are safe. Those incidents prove you are either ignorant or lying when you state that there are zero problems. And my family does not eat oil.Progress is moving beyond nonrenewable energy sources which pollute the environment and provide no future for our children. It is logic like yours that will destroy the planet and the human race.Park your hummer and ride your bike or take the bus once in a while.Your fervent defense of hydrocarbons will be looked back upon as silly if our society has the intelligence to exist beyond our addiction fossil fuels.Acknowledging you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

Electric, dont waste your time with the useful idiot as he/she obviously is either paid to spew ignorance or is lost in his/her on ignorance of what is really going on in this Nation. Our numbers will overwhelm in 2012 and these fools will still have their heads up their a$$.

SMDrPepper

First off there are nine wells that pump really bad oil out of the Everglades and they are not in Broward county.http://news.discovery.com/eart...As to the safety of these pipelines, they leak.  A LOT.  And even republicans do not want this boondoggle to happen.Yes, we need gas to run cars.  I am so happy you figured that out.  But this will end up changing soon since there is only a finite amount of oil and its going away fast.  Drilling more will not make the prices go down because we are now sucking up the dregs that were deemed too hard and unprofitable to get at.  Such as oil sands. Now back to this pipeline, it will end up costing us more in cash and property than they say it will.  Creating it will only bring more hardship, not less.  Safety cannot be guaranteed and is an accident waiting to happen.Trust me the oil industry safety record is incredibly bad.  The only reason we havent heard of anything bad from those Everglade wells is because of the remote location.

Wow, the ignorance of green is running wild here.

There is a really good documentary of North Korea out right now on Nat Geo. They have been told daily all of their lives to love dear leader and at the expense of all else, they live by that and thank dear leader for all in their lives. Your dear leader, Obama and the Green Cause, have blurred your logicMother Earth is here to serve us, the human race, not the other way around. I do not drive a Hummer, wanted to, but people like you push the price of oil up to force us to move in a direction in which we do not choose. Your form of progress is moving back prior to the Industrial Revolution.Your family may not eat oil as you ignorantly stated but it took oil to get it to your house in a car, electric or gas, which was made from oil based products. I assume safetly that you either choose plastic at the store to save another tree to hug or you have your own over the shoulder satchel which unless made by yourself utilized oil products somewhere in the production process. The house you live in, even if made of straw, needed oil products as part of its construction, Do you light it with electricity? Where do you get that product from? Coal? You guys hate coal so maybe solar? The panels require oil products to manufacture. Wind? The wind turbines require oil to manufacture and the batteries manufacturing process is dirtier than driving the Hummer for certain. What you need to do is look around your house to see what is made without the use of oil in part or whole in its manufacturing. You are a follower and we are the leaders of individualism which is a direct threat to all you know green or otherwise.
