Manny Ramirez Formally Charged With Domestic Violence

Broward Sheriff's Office
Manny Ramirez -- who used quite a bit of chemical help to amass his MLB statistics -- will face a domestic-violence charge for allegedly slapping his wife.
The Broward State Attorney's Office announced yesterday that Manny Ramirez -- former World Series MVP and MLB drug-test failure extraordinaire -- has been formally charged with domestic violence in the alleged September smacking of his wife.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Ramirez's wife called the cops around 4:30 p.m. on September 13, saying Ramirez had hit her in the face and caused a bump on her head.

Juliana Ramirez told the cops her husband had slapped her in the face with an open hand, causing her head to hit the headboard of the bed behind her, the police report says.

Juliana Ramirez told police she called the cops immediately because she "was afraid that the situation might escalate further," police say.

Manny Ramirez told police that during the argument, he was holding his wife by her shoulders, and as she shrugged him off, she accidentally fell backward and hit her head.

Regardless, the cops say Manny -- who was once suspended by the MLB after testing positive for a women's fertility drug, then retired after facing a 100-game suspension following failing another drug test -- was the primary aggressor in the incident and was arrested.

Ramirez, now 39 years old, was released from the Broward County Jail shortly thereafter and remains free on $2,500 bond.

Amid reports that he wants to use his chemically altered body to play baseball in the Dominican Republican, Ramirez will still have to show up to court on October 14 to be arraigned on his misdemeanor domestic-violence charge.

Hi Manny, I was a big fan of yours when you where playing for the Red Sox. Whats up here? I am surprised your wife is cooperating w/ the State, however they (state) has to prove you intentionally hit her and wanted to cause her bodily pain. It was an accident, I went to get her attention , and accidently struck her, which caused her to hit her head on the head board(bed). The State has to prove you struck her intentionally causing her injury. To avoid all the drama , have your lawyer strike a plea deal, where you admit to say disorderly conduct, etc. Th ekey here is to appease your wife. If Marriage is broken the Benjamins ($$$) will always work, trust me. Hang in there..

Gee i hope some creep tries to be helpful in whoever abuses a member of your family. And I doubt MR needs your half-wit legal advice and actually instructing him to lie over an internet news board. You're a real genius.

Walsh is a real fucking genius.  When it comes to Bob-o, he puts the fucked in fucked up.

Finally, a blog posting in an area in which you have some considerable expertise.  Anyone who can wiggle after tossing body waste at the love of their life certainly can offer Manny better advice than Bob-o
