Broward Man Stabbed to Death During Domestic Dispute

Eumeka Mathis, accused of premeditated murder
A lovers' quarrel recently turned bloody and deadly, when a Pompano Beach man was stabbed and killed by his girlfriend over reported cheating, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The BSO has just said that Eumeka Mathis, 34, drove a knife into Patrick Walton's neck around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mathis has reportedly told deputies that she "stabbed Walton after they argued over his possible infidelities."

Mathis has said that Walton started choking her during the fight, a BSO spokesperson has said. She went to the kitchen and got a knife for protection, Mathis has told deputies.

Walton then left the house. Mathis tells deputies she tried to leave, but that Walton was holding the door shut.

She says she "struggled to pull the door open and every time she did, she swung the knife through the opening, which is how Walton was stabbed," the BSO reports.

After the blade hit Walton's neck, he fled to the public library at 1580 NW 3rd Ave.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene and rushed Walton to the hospital.

He died Monday at North Broward Medical Center.

Mathis is held on $25,000 bond at the main county jail, on charges of first-degree murder. If convicted, Mathis could face the death penalty.
