Three Boynton Beach Cops Hospitalized After Their Car Hit a Concrete Pole

​Three Boynton Beach police officers were hospitalized after getting into a car crash while responding to the area of a car chase involving burglary suspects, authorities say.

Boynton Beach Police Sgt. Suzanne Gitto says police were responding to a residential burglary on the 2600 block of NE Fourth Court when they saw the suspects' vehicle driving away from the home.

The three cops got into a vehicle to respond to the area of their suspects but lost control of the car and smashed into a concrete light pole, Gitto says.

The officers are currently in the hospital in stable condition -- and their injuries aren't life-threatening -- but at the time of the crash, the three cops were stuck inside the vehicle and had to be extracted by Boynton Beach Fire Rescue, Gitto says.

Police say the three burglary suspects also got into a crash in their car, slamming into a house around 28th Avenue and NW First Court.

The cops initially believed they had captured all three of their suspects but, after an investigation, determined that the third arrest was not of the suspect they were looking for.

Police are still searching for the third suspect, whom police say "should be considered armed and very dangerous."

Arrest reports and more information on the missing third suspect will be released later today, but the names of the injured officers will not be announced today, Gitto says.
