Rick Scott Maintains Slim Lead in Race for "Worst Governor Ever"

People are voting for me! Wait, what?
Since taking the lead in the race to elect the "Worst Governor Ever" on Wednesday, Gov. Rick Scott is still ahead by a slim margin.

Jeff Rae, who's in charge of new media over at the Transport Workers Union of America, tells the Pulp that as of yesterday, Scott had garnered 35 percent of the vote, just ahead of Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who has 32 percent. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker lags a bit behind in third place at 20 percent.

Rae says the voting just opened on Monday, and he sounded fairly surprised that Scott was in the lead.

There are nine governors on the ballot, including a spot for a write-in. A few of the governors, including Gov. Jan Brewer, are actually "losing" to write-in candidates, like Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, who Rae says is the highest vote-getter for a write-in.

The special election for "Worst Governor Ever" is running through the summer, and they'll announce the winner in the fall.

Since the election opened -- and probably due to other causes too -- Scott's email has run full, so the emails you can send the governor to let him know you voted for him are now being sent to the governor's communications director, Brian Burgess.

Want to cast your own vote? Do so here.

Check out that email, along with the "Worst Governor Ever" video -- which includes a solid Rick Scott impression -- below:

Dear Gov. Rick Scott,

I just voted for you in the Worst Governor Ever contest at www.worstgovernorever.com because of your blatant disregard for the well being of middle-class people in Florida and your attempts to weaken the rights and services that have made our society strong.

I am fed up with being told that we can't afford basic things like education and transportation while the wealthy get handouts. I've heard enough of the attacks on hard-working public employees who, unlike the bankers and Wall Street investors, did nothing to hurt the economy. Let's not attack the teachers but build an education system that works for everyone.

What we need are jobs, quality healthcare, good education and solid retirement. That means funding infrastructure and public programs and making sure people have a voice at work and at the ballot box.

The people of Florida will hold you accountable and we will make sure everyone understands the dire impacts of your misguided policies.

Huh, I heard he was doing pretty good down there.  If you think you got it bad why don't you all move up to IL and see some real misery first hand.  Or better yet TRY to elect a Democrat and see how far that gets you!  You people don't know how good you got it DUH!!

Is he even real??  He handed out little round fat pills @ that donut shoppe a few wks and his popularity rating rose!!!  Florida voters are soo fickle.  This idiot is like a guy from not so far south of Florida, Venezuela!  He's got  alot of ole Hugo Chavez in him, the lying, the corruption, the lying, the good ole boys clubbing around, 'just give 'um a few dollars and they'll vote for ME!' And the lying...  I have NO idea who voted for him.  Imagine if Alex would have won. we'd have several hundred new jobs re-building our infrastructure and a new high-speed train...  I only wish he cared how we feel about him

I have to laugh at nanook's comment about unions.  Let the republicans break the union, then you will see a caste system in American, the rich and us folks that are trying to keep the American going.  You make me laugh, what a farce!

A curse on my native state for electing this fascist scum!  The Republican Party is a criminal organization devoted to destroying our founding ideals and responsible for the most deadly attack against America in our history.  The Bolsheviks never posed such a threat to our lives and liberty -- voting is not enough!

Matt: Scott was just slammed by Politifact again, this time for his highspeed rail cost claims.

Do your magic, Sir.

I wrote a post about how much the high-speed rail system actually cost the day Rickety Rick announced he was going for SunRail. Politifact was several weeks late to the game -- which isn't unusual.

nice set, and yet, hearing about pompous self-serving interests from the AFL-CIO is always plenty charming

C'mon, Florida! Rock the vote! You know our governor is way-y-y-y worse than those other lightweights. Cast your vote and vote often (like we do here is South Florida). We're #1!
