College Group Plans Naked 5K Run to Promote Nakedness (Video)

That's why Phillips is helping to organize the Streak Sunsport Gardens 5K, a clothing-optional run/walk at the Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort in Loxahatchee on August 27. The event is a fundraiser for Vita Nuda, a college nudist group that caters to people ages 18 to 30. It will be the first nude run of
its kind in South Florida, Phillips says.
"It's liberating; it's relaxing," he says. "It's not risqué at all."
Phillips, who grew up in West Palm Beach and now attends Sante Fe College in Gainesville, has been involved in nudist events for six years. A friend invited him to a naked 5K run in Atlanta, and he was hooked. "I thought it was the most natural, freeing thing," he says.
He helped found Vita Nuda is Florida in 2006. There are now group chapters all over the U.S., plus one in Australia. Next year, he says they plan to launch a series of naked 5K runs throughout Florida.
People of all ages are welcome at the Sunsport event, and the group will be collecting donations of used clothes and shoes to give to charity. There's only one major rule for participating: No perverts. "No overt sexual activity or innuendo at all," Phillips says, or you'll be asked to leave.
There will be an August 25 preparty at Run and Roll, a running store in CityPlace, where you can register for the run at a discounted rate. After the run, the streakers will host a pool party at Sunsport. With a Slip 'n Slide.
