Debbie Wasserman Schultz Describes Gabrielle Giffords' Return to Congress (Video)

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the Arizona congresswoman shot in the head during a Tucson shooting rampage in January, made her return to the House floor yesterday to cast her vote on the debt deal.

Giffords' spokeswoman told reporters that it's unknown what her political future is -- her reelection bid is still up in the air, and she doesn't know whether her return to the House is permanent because of her ongoing recovery.

In a news release from Giffords, she says she had to come cast the vote out of disappointment with what's been going on in Washington.

"I had to be here for this vote," Giffords says. "I could not take the chance that my absence could crash our economy."

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz, the Democratic National Committee chairwoman, went on CNN's American Morning today to describe the appearance of Giffords, one of her closest friends, back in Congress for her vote.

Check out the video, which includes footage of Giffords' return to the House floor, below:

I bet Giffords is thinking a little bit harder about sending our soldiers off to war to get their heads blown off.

I like DWS better when she is slugging it out with ex Col. West. Looking forward to round 2. Rip him a new one Debbie.

Thanks for the nice article on Giffords. She is one of the finest legislators in a state desperately short on political talent and intergrity. Her presence in the House yesterday was a bit of inspiration and civility in a chamber sorely lacking both.
