Here's some uplifting news if you have a healthy fear of elevators.

A Palm Beach resident says that a freight-elevator door fell on her head, permanently maiming her, according to a recently filed lawsuit.

Montisha Mann, then an employee of a Sunrise IKEA, says that Le Group Manufacturier d'Ascenseurs Global Tardif -- a lift company from Quebec -- and Schindler Elevator Corp. are to blame for her injuries.

She and her husband, Robert Gonzalez, want the companies to pay for her long-term medical care, among other damages, Broward County Civil Court records indicate.

Mann says that the hoist's design was to blame. She says that Schindler is accountable too because the company was charged with maintaining the elevator.

The Pulp is waiting for Schindler's comment. Officials at Global Tardif could not be reached. The office is closed for annual vacation, according to a recorded phone greeting.
