They have no cameras in the underground area where they have free reign over your baggage. I one packed a pounch of jewelry by accident, yes it was my fault for packing something so expensive and it was a one time fluke but a diamond necklace and bracelet were stolen along with an MP3 player and inexpensive watch. Other expensive items were left behind fortunately. I KNOW it was TSA! My bags cam in at my arrival terminal in 9 minutes....another fluke but they didnt have time to rifle through my things. The time that the bags were checked through at my airline as time stamped in their records. NOTHING was done about it!

I have quit flying, (except for air taxi's) it hasn't been much of a inconvenience, and there are days I can pretend I live in a free country.

Not flying isn't an option for me since my business requires travel across the country. I can easily see how he could get away with this. I lost a Kindle on a trip but I couldn't for the life of me tell you if I had it after I went through Florida or not, since I was in several states, and several airports, both to meet clients, and then through different airports for connecting flights. It's easy to avoid this.  Simply don't visit the United States, and if you're unfortunate enough to already be there, leave and never go back.

If you travelled from Ft. Lauderdale in the time period during which this TSA criminal was working and reported something stolen from your bag TSA should be responsible for reimbursement.

i had a case like this a few  years ago except it was a baggage handler,  u can no lnger  lock your bags for allegedly secuity reasons, so these folks have a license to steal and it right to e bay...  the airlines, again, allegedly do not keep track of the number of stolen articles since they are not responsible for security.  a vicious circle never put anything of c value in your luggage.
