Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was supposed to show up to a Fort Lauderdale school today -- a month and a half out of prison -- to teach some youngsters about his life experiences and how to make good choices.

The kids learned at least one thing from Burress today: He has a problem telling time, since he showed up two and a half hours late.

According to Burress' Twitter, he was doing a photo shoot for Men's Journal just after noon today. If that's why he was late, that's depressing.

Miami Heat forward James Jones had no problem showing up on time -- in fact, he arrived a little early.

Jones told the kids about his childhood, and his focus on basketball, telling the kids to focus on what they love instead of succumbing to the pressures kid face.

He then took the time to field questions from the youngsters, who fired off questions like seasoned sports reporters.

First question: "How come you lost the championship?"

Jones said it was because the Dallas Mavericks scored more points.

Then they asked him how it felt to have the Mavericks celebrate on their court. Then they asked about Dirk Nowitzki. Eventually he gave up on it.

Jones got off the stage a little before 3 p.m., and then everyone waited for Burress.

And waited. Then waited some more.

After every member of the news media left except for the Associated Press' Tim Reynolds, Burress finally showed.

Of course, Reynolds says Burress' subject matter was on decision-making.

Burress has said he'd really like to play for the Miami Dolphins, but after shooting himself in the leg a few years ago, then shooting himself in the foot with local fans today, he's not helping his cause.
