Christian Family Coalition Blows a Gasket Over Oakland Park's Equality Month Proclamation

To the surprise of no one, the Christian Family Coalition is still going batshit insane against the gay community.

Today's freakout comes in response to the Oakland Park City Commission, which passed a proclamation recognizing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride & Equality Month a few weeks ago.

As per usual, the bigoted extremists accuse the commission of being populated by, of course, "bigoted extremists."

Brace yourself for some hateful crap, courtesy of the Christian Family Coalition kooks:

Ultimately, the Oakland Park City Commission irresponsibly voted 4-1 for the anti-Family, antisocial Aberrosexualist proclamation, with Commissioner Shank casting the only "NO" vote.

For his fair and civic-minded remarks and "NO" vote, intolerant, intolerant, hate-filled homosexualist extremists attacked him and bizarrely called him "disrespectful."

"Since when is a proclamation extolling "pride" in biologically aberrant sexual behavior and practices more important than celebrating a nationally observed day honoring fathers? The only disrespectful and hypocritical ones here are the intolerant extremists imposing their homosexualist views on the rest of society. Where is the tolerance and respect for Commissioner Shank's point of view? These bigoted extremists owe Commissioner Jed Shank, and everyone else a public apology. Of course, they won't do it, thus showing their true agenda of hate, bigotry, intolerance and discrimination," remarked Anthony Verdugo, Christian Family Coalition Founder and Executive Director.

Also included in the group's news release is a prewritten letter -- which seems to be a staple for weirdos -- thanking Commissioner Shank for his "no" vote as part of its view that the equality month is disrespectful to fatherhood.

New Times Article Unmasks Aberrosexualist Extremism

Christian Family Coalition (CFC) directors and members thank New Times for Matthew Hendley’s July 13th, 2011 "freaked-out," hate piece uncontrollably attacking CFC for standing with Oakland Park Commissioner Jed Shank in support of Father’s Day.

The fair-minded and mainstream among us understand that insults, slurs, and disparaging names are the ONLY “arguments” of those who lack arguments. This is why Matthew cannot muster much more than slurs and profanity to vilely attack those who dare to disagree with him.

Matthew’s bitter diatribe affords everyone in our community a good glimpse of the bigotry, vulgarity, and hysteria that practically identifies aberrosexualist partisans whose absurd, antisocial ideology pushes the macabre “celebration” of biologically aberrant sexual behaviors. (Talk about "weirdos"!)

This rant glaringly exposes the extreme vileness harbored against America's families, children and values by aberrosexualists, who we know do not represent the vast majority of respectful homosexual men and women. Thank you, Matthew for your latest intolerant "drama"!

When the Mayor of Margate made the proclamation we had people who told us that "we were not in touch with our constituents" because the marriage act was passed saying people were against gay marriage and“"Just because someone takes a certain route doesn’t mean it is normal,” then went into a whole gene thing.  How the proclamation saying people should be treated humanely and equally got turned into a gay marriage issue is beyond me, we also had a reverend who said  the  “the immorality in the city is out of control.”Somehow I now have a group that I am the leader of called the Peerman Homo Hate Group who hate all people who are not perverted.(go figure)  All this from a proclamation. It was the 1st time Margate has ever done it and I applaud Mayor Donovan for her bravery and her compassion for the LGBT community.Le

Wow! Sounds like an absolute circus! Like something that seemed to be a no-brainer, but turned out to take up an inordinate amount of time, attention, and energy. This is why political bodies shouldn't waste their doing anything beyond that which they were elected and are paid to do...govern!

It doesn't matter how good the cause is, if it's not an issue of policy than commemorate or debate it on your own time. I truly would have no problem with a city attempting to extend benefits to same sex partners, and then ensuing in the inevitable debate that would follow such an attempt. That's because it would be a material issue that would affect its constituents, and as such, should be thoroughly explored on city (or county, state, etc.) time.

But to have elected officials waste time with pointless proclamations and all of the brouhaha that follows is time spent not governing. I don't think their is a single government in this state, and certainly not in south florida, that can claim that they have balanced their budget and solved all of their policy issues, and therefore have the leisure to spend time meant for governing making social proclamations and engaging their constituents in debating them.

By the way, yesterday was National French Fry day. You can't make this stuff up.

I celebrated National No Bra Day on July 9th but since I am not a Mayor I could not proclaim it.

Sometimes ya just gotta do some feel good stuff for the residents thus proclamations, They take about 10 minutes if that long and usually there is not any controversy. If you could get a few of the residents to stick to city issues during their public speaking instead of personal attacks I would be willing to never make a proclamation when I am Mayor. I have yet had a meeting where I was not personally attacked and I know I get paid for that but it starts to get boring after awhile.  I admit that I do not sit idle while someone is lying about me which wastes time but I find liars extremely offensive.

Asian American Heritage Week is the first week in May (as per a joint congressional resolution passed in 1972) kicks off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Why do I bring this up?  Because it is as irrelevant and unconnected to the duties of responsible governance as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride & Equality Month is or National-Father-Appreciation-Love-Whatever-the-heck-else-they-want-to-call-it is.Huge problem on both the national and local level is the inordinate amount of time, money, and attention that goes into declaring, proclaiming, honoring, or otherwise paying any attention to any specific group, event, date, or occassion that has little to no effect on the effective management of a locality. Although each individual instance seems to take no more time than declaring and passing a resolution or declaration, collectively, the amount of time, energy, attention, and money that goes into recognizing or debating these various holidays (or "special" months, days, years) is astounding.Just one more example of people getting worked up over issues that have very little to do with the practical problems of good governance.Time magazine ran an article about this problem in the national legislature in 2009, and it seems to have only gotten worse.http://www.time.com/time/polit...

Also relevant is this AP article detailing the time wasted commemorating sports events, teams, etc. in congress. Although the specifics are different, the sentiment is the same. There are a lot of causes, groups, organizations, etc. worthy of recognition, but its a waste of time (and therefore money) having our elected leaders argue over or even unanimously agree to commerate them.http://www.theoaklandpress.com...

Bottom line: Regardless of where you stand on the issues of gay marriage, adoption, etc., that's not what this is about! It's about yet another group of politicians sitting around NOT taking care of business by bringing up these petty distractions. (Not that it should matter, but on issues of POLICY I would guess that I'm probably 99% oppossed to The Christian Family Whoevers positions. I just believe that ANY time spent discussing, arguing, or commemorating is time spent NOT governing, balancing budgets, and providing services. Our 11 federal holidays are more than enough, thank you.)

Damn right, who gives a flying fuck about any of this "proclamation" bullshit.

These idiot commisioners need to start paying attention to their actual jobs instead of wasting so much time and energy, as "Whatawasteoftimeandenergy " so wonderfully posted, on this silly and stupid nonsense.

Just look to Lauderhill and their shitpile of a mess because they were sleeping on the job!

And when are we going to have a" National Men and Women who like to have sex with  each other Month"?

I wonder who the fucktard is who penned such a hateful and ignorant statement. I understand that he has created his own writing genre.

Dumbfuckery.

P.S. As I have said for years, there is nothing christian about so many of these self- proclaimed christians. They are ignorant, hateful swine. I'm an agnostic so I can get away with such vitriol.

The City of Oakland Park has come a long way since Mayor Mary Lavaret had a law passed REQUIRING every homeowner to have a gun!.  Other than a short time when conservative Christians took over a majority of the Oakland Park City Commission, the city has exhibited a strong concern for the welfare of its citizens.  City staff is helpful, progressive, and respected by both residents and elected officials.  The city is diverse and proud of its diversity.  The only "hateful discourse" that I see is from the Christian Family Coalition.  Unfortunately, no individual commissioner sought to have a "Father's Day" proclamation issued.  If one had, the proclamation would have been provided.

Actually, the most surprising fact from this story is that Christian Family Coalition would blow anything.

I'd say "I'll be damned" but since I am a militant atheist, I'll go with "fuck me silly and call me Larry."
