Rep. Bill Hager
Apparently Nancy Grace fans aren't the only ones up in arms over the fact that Casey Anthony was found not guilty of killing her 2-year-old daughter.

Republican State Rep. Bill Hager, who represents Boca Raton, announced today that he's currently drafting legislation he's calling "Caylee's Law."

"Caylee's Law," he says, would make it a felony for a parent or legal guardian not to call the cops when their youngsters go missing.

He hasn't said whether that includes accidents that "snowballed out of control," but being on the Justice Committee might help get his bill onto the floor in the next legislative session.

Here's what Hager said today to announce his bill-drafting intentions:

"What we witnessed in the case of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony was truly tragic. Placing a law on the books requiring parents and guardians to report missing children who are in significant danger in a timely manner will ensure that parents are held accountable for their actions. It will also assure that we put justice on the side of those among us who are most vulnerable. And finally, it will put an end to the kind of irresponsible and outrageous behavior we observed with Caylee's mother."

According to Capital Soup, the U.S. Department of Justice says 76 percent of abducted kids who are murdered are killed within three hours of their abduction.

He is worried about Election. Trying to beef-up credentials. Rumor is the dems are courting a Delray attorney who prosecuted child killers up north and helps groups, churches implement policies to keep molesters out.

I thought that Florida had had for more than a century now a statute on misprison of a felony, which covers not reporting a felony to the authorities. Why does Boca keep electing clowns and morons to office?

Something has do be done. Do it right, Do it wrong, but do something.  Don't let her death pass with nothing being done. Her mother didn't do shit, and nothing will happen to her. I feel for her griving grand parents, but then they lie to protect her. (Casey)  The hole thing makes me want to puke.  This guy maybe Grand Standing, but at least he's doing something.

It's a true shame that such a law is even needed.  It's like passing a law that says we have to insert the key into the ignition before starting the car!  ANY parent that gives a rat's tush about their child would IMMEDIATELY call LE - they certainly wouldn't keep their child's disappearance a secret for a month and party the second the kid's gone. Mr. Hager, I applaud you and pray that each and every State enact such a bill.  If I was a Floridian, I'd certainly campaign for your re-election.  I'm a Texan, and I'll post this article everywhere I can.

Hager is nothing but a worthless hack of a politician. How about worrying about the 10's of thousands who are either unemployed or underemployed in his district? He joins Rick Scott, Allan West, George LeMieux, and Adam Hasner as the low hanging fruit losers.

Please let Bill Hager know the people in Boca Raton would be better served if he spent time worrying about jobs...versus grandstanding...he LOST my vote!

First of all, how about a little more "innocent until proven guilty" outlooks? If you were up for the same charge, and you believed you weren't guilty, wouldn't you want a jury of your peers to grant you that much? Unless you were THERE and saw that broad kill her daughter, you do not know if she did it or not. Get over yourselves.

Secondly, what the FUCK is a timely manner?

I think this new law is excellent! I know I would sign it. Something positive can be done to try to change a system that lets a murderer go free just because they don't like a witness (George Anthony). I also believe that both George and Cindy lied on the stand to get their testimony stricken and their daughter free, even though I think they know she killed her daughter. That way, neither would be responsible for whatever happened to her. Something needs to be done about this tactic also. If our judicial system is so perverted that a murderer kills her child and walks free, something in our system needs to change! I support you fully in making a new law about this kind of injustice for a defenseless child!

That law would have made it a crime for Liam Neeson to do what he had to do to get his daughter back in Taken. Of course, she was in Europe at the time so there would have been jurisdictional issues. Also, I'm like 90% sure it wasn't a documentary.

This would appear to be grandstanding although of the relatively harmless kind since there is no widespread problem with parents of missing children failing to call the cops.

What is he doing?  For heaven's sake, THINK about what should be done....does it involve saying or doing something to make people FEEL better...or does it involve doing something that  might help....and WHAT, exactly, do YOU think should be done?

PLEASEEEEEEEE....do you really think that anyone who cared about their missing child WOULDN'T notify authorities??? And if a parent, or other person,  murdered a child, do you think that that law would "remind" them to call the police?  It's a STUPID proposal, designed to make voters think that legislators care.  Just another law that will clog up the legislature as all the, "I'm for justice" legislators try to add their personal touch to the legislation.

Jobs, baby...do something about JOBS.

Well, just when I thought Florida could not get any worse, along came you.

Thanks for helping us hit an all time low!

"Timely manner" to most intelligent parents would be IMMEDIATELY.  Duh.

No, that was definitely a documentary. And from what I hear, that's what Casey was going to do, but then those pesky cops interfered and got the kid killed.

I feel a law that is written with teeth inserted in it would be something. Make it against the law not to report a child missing that is under the age of 7.  Make the time exact, make it so that the police have to accept the report with no time delay.  A releastic time for loss of a 7 yr old should be hours not days. Damn sure not 31.  Was he grand standing with his Cayle law?. I guess if he was it worked.  I just read on AOL, it went virial.  Maybe something will happen.  I sure hope so.
